It’s cute you think Trump has a strategy.

I agree with you. I think he's emotionally driven amd erratic. But I think he's got thoughts and feelings, and being USA's president means we have to give a shit. A bit like being married to an abusive and violent husband. We can puzzle together what pattern Trumps outbursts have, and from that infer an implicit strategy. A bit like the abused wife might make put protective measures in place when she notices her husband opens a can of beer.

But Europe's lack of interest in its own self preservation, or interest in being a credible threat, should annoy any of its allies. Trump has every right to be annoyed about that.

And he is succeeding in goading Europe into military spending where Biden, Obama and first term Trump failed.

So perhaps we should reluctantly admit that Trump is what Europe needed to wake the fuck up out of its deluded slumber. Which is painful to admit
The problem is Ukraine is paying the price for Trump's tantrum.
Trump's tantrum (whichever one of many you refer) did not cause Putin's invasion, of which Ukraine is indeed paying the price
I didn’t say it did. But his reluctance to give sufficient help is prolonging Ukraine’s misery. That reluctance is due in part to his tantrums about Europe’s free riding on defense.
Presidents have not done much as could be done for Ukraine - Biden, Trump. Both have been parsimonious .
And before it is mentioned Australia can and should be doing much more for Ukraine
Biden was just timid. If Russia was successful at one thing it was convincing the world of its conventional military might, then their bullshit nuclear saber rattling. But I have to wonder how much this narrative may have been reinforced by the US defense industry.
And if any other nation should have been doing more for Ukraine, it should have been South Korea. The cheap bastards could have really moved the needle sending much needed artillery.

That's such bullshit. USA is doing great. We can argue all day whether American economic dominance is because of it encourages innovation, entrepreneurial culture or its access to cheap energy or a combination. But USA is awesome.

Thanks for the kind words. But that's old news. A lot has changed in the last 11 months.
And please don't try to tell me about what i'm liveing through. That is what Rump does, it's called gaslighting.

USA hasn't had a financially suicidal green energy policy the last 20 years that has fucked us over, that magically led us to become dependent on German coal with CO2 emissions skyrocketing... but anyhoo. While both USA and Europe are healthy economies... USA in 2025 outperformed Europe on every metric that counts, and I can't see any indication that's going to change in 2026.

Here's something I have noticed, Americans love complaining about America. It's always doom and gloom. The only Europeans that whine about their own country as much as USA is England. I guess it's an anglosphere cultural thing. But then again, the Brits have things to actually complain about.

Europeans have historically been fiscally conservative and careful. Which is nice for stability but prevents us from getting the kind of growth you get in USA.

Both USA and Europe have exceedingly healthy, world leading, economies. Neither is anywhere near losing it's position at the front of the pack.-

Why would Trump care about Ukraine? Other than that you and me thinks he should.
Adults understand the value of maintaining longstanding mutually beneficial commitments.

Why should Europe follow such a leader?

Do we?
Up until now, Europe has. While Europe weans itself, it wii continue to follow to a lessening degree.

If you pay attention USA stopped leading the free world in 2022. All European nations pivoted at that point to make us independent (from US armed forces). We all learned the hard way that if USA didn't send enough stuff to Ukraine for Ukraine to win, there was nothing European countries could do about it. That woke us up real fast. We were already unhappy about Bidens contributions. Guess how unhappy we are now?

Europe is still far from US intel capabilities (and are still completely dependent on USA telling us what the Russians are up to). USA is number one with a huge margin. We will most likely never reach US levels. But our goal is to have an independent intel capacity, good enough for European defence, by 2030.

While Europe doesn't match USA in industrial production capability. We absolutely match (and in cases supercede) USA in technical know how, innovation and hi-tech. Silicon valley is full of European (and Indian) brains. Those guys are only in USA for the money. They, pretty much, all jump at the chance to come home and build military gadgets.

While European high end talent can't make as much money in Europe as they could in USA, Europe is a much nicer place to live. So there's that going for our military innovation capabilities.
B - Maybe, if anyone is asking them to do so. But your comment flies in the face of H1-B visa holders wanting and waiting for green cards. Indians make up 1.1 million of the 1.8 million backlog. For Europeans, I can't find specific data but strong English skills and a high rate of naturalization would support their wanting to stay also.

B - Ain't that the truth. It's usually Kevin (Karen's husband) complaining about all the American ills he's reads about but does not suffer. It's boredom. Complaining becomes a hobby. They are people who read about but have rarely experienced how the other half live.

I was specifically talking about Europeans wanting to go back home and build military gadgets in Europe. Not Indians. India has a very different geopolitical situation than Europe. Both simpler and more complicated. As well as a very different culture. They're quite content with buying military hardware from other countries, rather than building their own arms manufacturing capabilities.

Europe has a long tradition of military innovation and development, that never disappeared. For it's tiny population Swedish arms are weirdly advanced. Some of the current best weapons on the planet. Sweden has been like this for 500 years now. Which is weird, considering we've had 200 years of peace. I don't get it either.

People speculate that danes should sell it to Trump.
But I have a better Idea - do nothing and wait for the next president, presumably mentally older than 3 years. Trump can come and stick a flag there. But sooner or later some less mad president will be elected.
And NATO? It's dead anyway.

I think that only a psychopath couldn't have some feelings for a country defending their home and wanted to govern themselves.

So you have some (warm) feelings for Nazi Germany. Good to know.

It never ends with you! Nazis share the following doctrines: racial supremacy beliefs, one party dictatorship, elimination of elections, state-controlled ideology, an extreme hatred of Jews. Please tell me which of these traits Ukraine has? Their Jewish president has repeated many times that elections will be held again once the invasion is over.

That’s why they keep trying to placate our 2 year old in chief? LOL. Like it or not, until the weaning process progresses further, Europe is still following because it doesn’t have the military capabilities yet. And is unlikely to reach the necessary level in the near future.

Sure. Good point. Until we have built up our own armed forces we will keep following USA's lead until we don't any longer.

I think this is great. I've always wanted an integrated and independent EU military. Thanks Trump for helping me get that

What?

Biden financially, logistically, and militarily supported Ukraine.

Trump tried to get the Ukrainian leader to announce a fake investigation into Biden so that Trump would unlock the Congressionally approved funding... and that was even before the Russia invaded. In the second term, Trump has done nothing to support Ukraine.

Yeah, and don't go around starting things.

I wonder what is Trump's gang plan?
I mean all democrats in Congress are against taking Greenland and some republicans would like to travel to Europe after retirement too. Is their plan to blackmail EU into blackmailing Denmark into selling it voluntarily?
And by blackmailing I mean threat of leaving EU alone against scary Russia?

Imagine democrats saying "Well, Danes agreed to sell it, so who we are to refuse to buy it?"

I think Canada should be annexed, after all they all speak american. "English" is close to "american"
so Great Britain is next.
Then some in Canada speak french so France should be annexed. Spanish is used in US so Spain belongs to US. Amish speak german, so........

US has all these connections to Europe, so you all belongs to US. And you all were captured by US in WW2.
