Climate Change(d)?

I wonder if Swiz accepts that humans evolved from prior non-human life forms.
Most of what he espouses would, if applied to evolution, lead to asserting magical Cree-ay-shun.
In the early 19th Century, many well regarded scientists (in particular Lord Kelvin and Hermann von Helmholtz) still would not accept evolution, because of the Historical Age Problem - they knew that the Sun could not be more than about 20 million years old, because if it were, it would have run out of fuel by now. Darwin's theory required billions of years.

Of course, they didn't know about nuclear fusion, so they had an excuse.

I remember reading Helmholtz’ “On the Sensation of Tone” when I was 17, and had just dropped out of school. It made a pretty big impact on my interests …

I wonder if Tswizzle knows one side of the San Andreas fault is moving north.

I don't know of Santa Monica is on the plate.

Apparently, it's worse that some of us thought.

Human activities have pushed Earth beyond its Safe Operating Space. The planet's natural resilience is weakening: Global warming is accelerating, ecosystems are showing clear signs of degradation, and early warning signs of tipping points are emerging in key systems. We have entered the Anthropocene — an era where human activity dominates the Earth system.

To safeguard the Earth's resilience and stability, we must bringthe planet back into its Planetary Boundaries. These boundaries are scientifically defined guardrails that ensure the Earth's health. Stay within them, and the Earth stays our dependable home — breach them, and we risk irreversible damage to our very own life support system. Today, seven out of nine boundaries have been transgressed.

The Planetary Health Check is a yearly report on the state of our planet. It presents the most up-to-date assessments of the Planetary Boundaries, gives thorough introductions into cutting-edge science, and spotlights especially relevant aspects of our planet's health. In this 2026 edition, we place a special focus on carbon sinks and novel entities.

You can click on the link and access the full report, that goes into a lot of detail regarding what are called, the 9 Planetary Boundaries.

Who takes that claptrap seriously?
I would assume anyone with at least a partially working brain who took the time to read at least some or most of the information. I read some of it this morning. it goes into a lot of detail as to how we humans have made a very negative impact on the different aspects of our planet, not just climate, but the pollution of the oceans, the deforestation, and many other things. I seriously doubt that you read much of it. A reply would include a detailed response as to why you think the mess we humans have made isn't anything to be concerned about.

In some ways, these scientists are optimists because the report says that we still have time to try and reverse the mess we have made. I'm not so sure of that as humans don't like changing their habits and it would take a massive, collective move by governments to put us on a better path towards protecting our environment and reducing the impact of climate change. Still, I like that they haven't given up hope. Between what we've done to our planet and the lack of regulation of AI, it's hard or me to think we're not doomed at some point in the not too distant future.

It really is an end of times cult.

New update.

The TSwizzle Guide To Climate Change

1. This obsession with carbon really needs to stop.
2. This obsession with CO2 is coming to an end.
3. Teh Gruaniad says
4. It is a catastrophic f(ill in the temperature) degrees today.
5. He’s a cultlist. It is a catastrophic( fill in the blank) degrees in Santa Monica today
6. It really is a rapture like cult.
7. It really is a religion for you.
8 You are dumber than I thought
9. Climate always changes.
10. Human activity has very little impact on the climate compared to what occurs naturally.
11. CO2 does not control the earth’s climate.
12. Net Zero is sold as the only thing that will save the planet from the climate apocalypse
13. I’d rather discuss science with Christians
14, Climate change is propaganda pushed by politicians and activists.
15. Scientists are climate atavists, ergo climate science is wrong,
16. The climate "scientists" have been predicting climate catastrophe for decades. No catastrophes, we are still here.
17 🙄
18. An imperceptible rise in the global average temperature is nothing to obsess about.
19. It really is an end of times cult.

Rev 10

The new addition #19 makes me think he is picking up the phrases online somewhere. It is a cut like obsession. and probably gives the deniers a sense of identity.

Can TSwizzle answer the question as to what natural causes are responsible for current global warming?

Mr. never seems capable of responding intelligently, but he is really good at giving :rolleyes:s.. He thinks he knows so much more than all the highly regarded scientists that have studied the way that human activity has had a negative impact on our environment so all he needs to do is .

I do wonder where he received his degrees in science./s I do wonder why he thinks he knows so much more than all the scientists that provide us with this data and I do wonder why the fuck he simply doesn't stay out of this thread since he has nothing much to offer other than :rolleyes:s.

But, then again, he did admit that he voted for Trump, so maybe that explains his lack of a decent response. Talk about a cult......

All you do is post climate catastrophe porn. You still don’t understand that the earth’s climate is variable.

It’s a religion for you, an end of times religion. No point in engaging with religious fanatics.

No doubt you will be back with another climate catastrophe prediction.

I see your cult leader Al Gore is still running around talking about climate change. lol.

You said - "the way people carry on here, it’s only human activity that changes the earth’s climate these days. lol" - so, does your use of 'only' suggest that you acknowledge that human activity plays a part in climate change?

article said:
Hurricane Polo has exploded into a monstrous Category 5 storm with 180-mph winds, becoming the second-strongest hurricane ever recorded in the eastern Pacific as it threatens Mexico's southwestern coast with life-threatening floods and mudslides.

The National Hurricane Center said Polo was still strengthening after rapidly intensifying on Tuesday. The storm is expected to remain "extremely dangerous" for the next several days as it tracks northwestward over an ocean environment loaded with extremely warm water, abundant moisture and low wind shear.
Hurricane Polo is the second strongest storm in the Pacific on record. It is a sign of climate change because the environment is spitting out stronger and stronger hurricanes... but... the difference now is that while rapid intensification is becoming a norm, it is having the alternately anticipated impact on storm development that is making Cat 5's smaller. Due to the energy being available, it is taking a lot less time for these storms to form, so Cat 5's aren't required to reach the monster sized storms they were even just 40 years ago. So more Cat 5's but smaller Cat 5's.

My problem is with the concept that there is a sustainable level.

Of course it's variable. What you don't understand is that we are causing it and that variability can be very, very bad. We've seen extremes in the past that humanity probably would not survive.

Tswizzle lives in a place that has pretty stable weather. I've lived in mid lower Michigan my entire life. Our climate is not stable and has gone through a huge amount of warming since I was a kid.

Our snow amounts over winter were measured in tens of feet when I was a kid. Now they are measured in inches. 14 inches this past winter.

Our local snow ski resort ceased operations probably 15 years ago. They no longer get the amount needed of natural snow to cover the slopes and the snow makers couldn't keep up with the higher temperatures.

I can't say I don't appreciate the warmer winter weather. And being smack dab in the middle of the largest bodies of fresh water in the world will be quite an advantage in the future, barring pirates and data centers.

Tswizzle is behind the curve. But there is no stopping the curve finally catching up with him

lol. It has been a very quiet hurricane season this year (no doubt due to “climate change” lol) and there is an El Niño so no surprise Hurricane Polo is strong but I believe it has been downgraded to a Cat 4, much to the chagrin of the climate catastrophe cultists. They want a Cat 5 for the rapture, lol.

It is a catastrophic 71f in Santa Monica. Oh the humanity!! lol.

So you cite El Nino being the cause of Hurricane Polo... but not El Nino for the reason the Atlantic has been very quiet this year.
It is a catastrophic in Santa Monica.
Oh my!

One parse deserves another.

It all depends on what you mean by catastrophe.

We are seeing catastrophic consequences of warming. What you probably mean is someone who is predicting a near term global apocalypse.

Depends on ho you look at it. We humans do not exist outside of the ecosystem, we are part of it. Without insects and ocean life we do not survive.

If not human caused what is the natural cause of global warming

Bringing in Gore aain is an act of desertion.?
