California Doing California Things

Anyway, this is what we have to put up with Los Angeles.

Four people were hospitalized after gunfire broke out during a Los Angeles County street takeover early Sunday, authorities said, the latest violent episode tied to illegal gatherings that have drawn renewed scrutiny. "I'm moving, definitely," a woman who leaves near the Rosemead incident told Fox 11 Los Angeles. "That's scary. I come from San Marino — I don't belong here." The shooting happened around 2 a.m. local time Sunday, as cellphone video captured a large crowd fleeing as shots rang out. All four victims are expected to survive, according to authorities.

The Rosemead shooting comes weeks after another violent street takeover near Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles, where a crowd smashed windows and forced its way into a luxury apartment building. One person was stabbed in that incident.

With all that is going on in the world, it's comforting to have you bring us some nice hometown news.
Thank you.

There's nothing to explain beyond what I have already said. I make decisions about guilt or innocence based on evidence, not some pundit take on the news or my "party's" rhetorical ruts.
But you have explained nothing!
So I'm not going to form, and do not form, dogmatic opinions about whatever popular court cases are dominating social media at the moment.
I was not just asking about the murder case against Zárate, but more in general about the practice of releasing criminal illegals by "sanctuary" jurisdictions.
Deciding a jury is wrong because they disagree with Donald Trump when they've seen all the relevant evidence and he has not is absurd.
There you go again. This has nothing to do with Trump. This illegal killed a woman and got away with it. Had SF honored the immigration detainer, he would not have been in position to kill her to begin with.

People who are convicted with a crime should be subject to deportation, and I know of no politician or political party that would disagree on that point. "Custody" on the other hand, can just be neighborly or police harassment. A ride in the back of a police car is not proof that one is a criminal, especially not when every two bit rent-a-cop wannabe is running around pretending to be an immigration officer these days, with only a gun and 22 weeks of training as credentials.
Zárate was not picked up by "rent-a-cops". He had felony convictions. SF requested him to be transferred to their custody for a drug charge. But they neither prosecuted him for the drug crime, nor returned him to federal custody, but instead they released him into the community, where he killed a young woman.
Can you please address why you think this was right for SF to do. No waffling, no "Donald Trump" non-sequitur, no babbling about "rent-a-cop wannabes", whatever that means.

It hurts when you're raped. Sometimes a little. Sometimes a lot, especially if you are a woman. Sex without participation rips skin, bruises tissue.
Is that what happened here? I do not see even the accuser alleging ripped skin/mucous membranes, or presence of bruising. Just that there allegedly was "sexual contact" that she allegedly does not remember.

I wouldn't compare the two incidents as Derec did, but I'm not him.
I did not compare the two alleged incidents, just the "hoisting with own petard" part.

It has become difficult for male Democrats to politically survive sexual misconduct allegations because their ability to defend themselves is severely hampered by the "believe women" dogma. This is especially true if these Dems have a history of advocating that dogma.

So what Derec is asserting his usual bullshit.
It's not bullshit to require actual evidence and not to blindly believe women because they are women.
Remember this?

Invented out of whole cloth, but the false accuser Jackie Coakley was never criminally prosecuted.

Excellent. Men who rape women should go to jail.
Iff their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

You, on the other hand, believe any such claims only based on a woman's say so. No evidence is required. You even deem it "excellent" that ability of the accused to defend themselves is hampered.

So is it that you believe Republicans and Democrats should be held to different standards of justice, or that all rapists should go free? You aren't making a very consistent point, here.

Huh? Your interpretation is completely divorced from what I actually wrote. And I am being consistent.
I never said anything about different standards for Republicans and Democrats.
I never said that "all rapists should go free". But neither should people be assumed to be "rapists" just because there is an allegation.

I do not know if Swallwell is guilty or innocent. But he should not be presumed guilty just because that fits the radfem narrative.

And it is curious that these allegations are surfacing as his candidacy was picking up steam. It is possible that he is a victim of ratfucking, possibly by either Katie Porter's or Tom Steyer's camps. As Lenin said, "you look for the person who will benefit, and, … I am the walrus."
I think Porter is more likely, since she is immune to such ratfucking, while Tom Steyer could be ratfucked himself in a similar way.

You cited one event and then guess what? You cited another event. So I'm confused.

Please explain.

What did you mean because any sensible person can see that you used two examples in a single fucking sentence. (People like Swalwell (and earlier, Al Franken) are being hoist with their own petard.) Same fucking sentence pal. You are not comparing?

Please explain.

Also do the fucking meme so everyone knows where you are coming from.

But he should not be presumed guilty just because that fits the radfem narrative.
I would not approve of sending someone to jail without having a fair trial before a jury of their peers to ascertain their guilt. That is foundational to our democracy. But it isn't what we're talking about, is it? You don't want Swalwell to go to trial, nor (clearly, given that you have cited several trials of other individuals or cases that went to trial as evidence of misconduct) would you accept the results if he faced trial and was found guilty.

I'm curious if Derec has ever believed a women claiming she was raped. Can Derec cite a source?

I mean he is the only sensible man in the room. So I trust his judgement. All he has to do is cite a time he believed a woman was raped.

You are complaining about being misattributed... while then misattributing a position onto others. After fifteen plus years of this shit, it'd be nice if you stopped that.

Hasn't Swallwell only be accused of having affairs, which may have involved improper abuse of authority/power? Not rape.
And it is curious that these allegations are surfacing as his candidacy was picking up steam.
That is typically how it happens.

Following accusations of "sexual misconduct" *wink* *wink* Swalwell will also resign from congress. What a strange character Swalwell is and he keeps some strange company

Eric Swalwell’s billionaire benefactor, Stephen Cloobeck, says he cut off the disgraced politician in an explosive last meeting, telling him to get the “f—k out” of his house. In a matter of days, the former Democratic front-runner for California governor has had a stunning political collapse — suspending his campaign before announcing his resignation from Congress on Monday amid accusations of sexual assault from four women, including an ex-staffer who claims Swalwell raped her while drunk at an April 2024 charity gala. “I am no longer associated with a man that takes advantage of women,” Cloobeck said. “I support women’s rights.” The Post confirmed Swalwell was holed up in Cloobeck’s $26 million Beverly Hills mansion as the allegations against him came to light, even filming a video furiously denying the rape and sexual assault claims from a room inside the 9,700-square-foot home. Cloobeck offered new details into those final moments, telling The Post that Swalwell “apologized” before the billionaire “ripped him a new f—king a—hole.” “I was with my counsel and we had a chat with him, I just told him: ‘You busted the trust,’” Cloobeck said. “’I’m shocked, I’m disturbed and get the f—k out of here.’ Then I walked away and that was it.”

Why is he staying with a billionaire? Doesn't he have a wife and kids in CA?

I wonder how badly the severe coming drought in the west will affect the fish? There is no snow in the mountains right now. Worst ski year in 20 years.

I am amazed fish go skiing!

Why would someone move to Rosemead from San Marino if they didn't have to?

Anyway, I used to try and slap band-aids on stories like this by pointing out crime % as it relates to population, but when it happens to you (not you personally) statistics don't matter. Living nearly anywhere from northern OC, up through L.A., and 80+ miles out to the eastern IE means that you're never far from a high crime area. It's unlikely to reach out and get you or me or any other given individual, but on any given day, it can.

It's one of the many reasons I sold my overpriced house and fled to a rainy little coastal town on the PNW coast.
