Anyone else watching the after-show? Am I imagining or are they adding more tribbles to the set every week?
Anyway, apart from the clumsy romance that Michael is having with Beardy McBeardface, who is obviously a working for Klingons, one of the things that's bugged me since first episode is the opening title. It's got great music, nice visuals, and I wouldn't mind watching it every week... except for the ending. Why did they feel the need to break the rhythm and add the classic Star Trek tune at the end? It doesn't fit with the rest of the song, it seems liek something that the producers said they should have so someone jammed it in there. It doesn't work. The way to do a homage is to
start with the original theme and then take it to the new direction. Like the
Wonder Woman intro, which I've seen probably a million times. It starts with the Wonder Woman theme from Batman vs. Superman, but then quickly switches to the vastly superior music of the actual movie. Or if anyone remembers the new Knight Rider music, that started with the old tune and then took it to someone new. Not necessarily better (and the show sucked as well), but at least it was
different. Star Trek Discovery intro not only fails to respect the original, it also pulls the rug underneath the talented people who made the new opening credits sequence.
