We don't know. As others have pointed out, we've had some success teaching a gorilla to use sign language (a human invention) but apes are physically unable to speak human language. Will they evolve the ability? We don't know. That's why I said to give them a couple hundred million years and see what happens. Evolution is a very slow process. We didn't gain the ability to speak, write, and go to university overnight. It took a very long time. Again, anatomically modern humans first appeared around 200,000 years ago. The first written languages we know of didn't appear until around 3,500 BCE...thousands of years after mankind had developed agriculture, began smelting metal, and building cities.


According to your version of events, god looked down at the newly-established Jericho and said "I'm going to give humans the ability to write!...but not now. I'm going to wait seven thousand years for no apparent reason. Then three thousand years later I'll have a chat with some random Arab and he'll start a religion that will go to war with the other religions I helped launch."
