California Doing California Things

In my area, ICE terrorists tried to murder a guy this morning, who they claim was a gang member, but what the fuck do they know? ICE isn't an investigative agency, why are they "investigating" a murder in Stanislaus County? Our county sheriff or the Patterson city police would both be logical choices, or if you really felt it was a federal matter, the FBI.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers shot a man in Patterson on Tuesday morning, describing him as a wanted gang member who tried to run over an officer during a traffic stop. The subject was taken to a Modesto hospital, and as of early afternoon there was no information on his condition. A statement from ICE identified Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez as an 18th Street Gang member wanted in El Salvador for questioning in connection to a murder."

The CNN article is shorter, but confirms that our local law enforcement wasn't involved, or even informed, of this so-called investigation.

ICE were involved because the guy was in the USA illegally. Did you read the article you linked to?
It has been determined that the guy was in this country illegally, or has it only been alleged?

This report says the guy tried driving away in reverse before he shifted into forward and attempted to drive over the center divide on the highway. I suspect that's what the ICE authorities are calling 'weaponizing' the vehicle.

They better hope he dies! Can't have him talking to reporters about his actual status. Not that... well, reporters don't always ask in these cases.

DHS: Suspect in Sunnyvale murder case arrested in Hollister entered U.S. illegally multiple times

Alfonso Inestroza, who was arrested in Hollister on March 5 in connection with a fatal shooting in Sunnyvale, was already wanted for a 2025 homicide in Trenton, New Jersey, and entered the U.S. illegally multiple times, according to a March 30 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) news release.

The release also criticized Santa Clara County officials for not honoring federal immigration detainer warrants involving Inestroza.

Also known as Franquin Inestroza-Martinez, Inestroza is the primary suspect in the murder of 24-year-old single mother Kembery Chirinos-Flores, as reported in BenitoLink on March 23.

According to a Sunnyvale Police news release, officers responded to reports of a shooting in Sunnyvale on Jan. 7, 2025. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found Chirinos-Flores bleeding in her car with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene and left behind a five-year-old son, whose father, 32-year-old Gerzon Chirinos-Munguia, is the second suspect.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued an arrest detainer asking Santa Clara officials to not release Chirinos-Munguia following his arrests for domestic battery and false imprisonment. Instead of turning him over to ICE, he was released.

The DHS statement placed particular emphasis on Santa Clara County policies, asserting that local officials declined to cooperate fully with ICE.

According to the agency, detainer requests were not honored, a factor DHS said contributed to the suspects remaining at large prior to their eventual arrests.

This murder happened less than a mile from my house. A friend of mine lives in the mobile home park where she was killed. SMH.

Insufferable prick Newsom is "still processing" the allegations against Cesar Chavez

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday said he was still “processing” sexual misconduct allegations against the legendary farm worker activist César Chávez, who died in 1993. Multiple women told The New York Times that Chávez slept with them while they were underage, which led to long-term emotional distress. The revelations have led to a reckoning over the legacy of Chávez. “I think all of us are processing it. And, you know, and just these kids have to process it now. I mean, I think there’s … three dozen schools in the state are named after César Chávez. I don’t know [how many are in the] community, in the country,” Newsom said during an unrelated press conference in the Bay Area. “I traveled to 14 states the last few weeks.

Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) on Wednesday vowed to “rework” a bill he introduced last year proposing the creation of a national park dedicated to Chávez. :ROFLMAO:

The Hill

Newsom, anywhere but California but we are all better off with him out of the state.

Dodger Stadium sits in Chavez Ravine. They should move!

I've long said on this forum that naming streets, schools, etc after famous people is one of the dumbest ideas around, for just this very reason. There are a lot of CC schools, streets, etc around my area that are going to be costly to rename. MLK, Jr is next. Supposedly, there is a slew of audiotapes, etc that are slated to be released next year that aren't going to be favorable, to say the least. And there is even more MLK naming than CC naming around here.

I don’t know anything about Cesar Chavis, he died before a few months before I arrived in California. He’s been dead quite a while now, a bit odd that these allegations are being brought to light now.

It’s always a bit of a risk naming streets, schools and what not after people. Probably best not to do it.
Chavez Ravine is not named after Cesar Chavez. It is named after  Julián_A._Chávez

That has got to be one of the worst written articles I've read. Inestroza, from the best I can tell, is still in custody. I'm uncertain why Chirinos-Munguia would be released at all if undocumented and charged with domestic battery and false imprisonment.

DHS is a red herring. If the two people committed crimes, they should be tried for them. The whole "illegal" angle is disturbing. Documented Americans murder people too. Whether they are here legally or without legal basis isn't really that relevant. Using a person murder to push an anti-immigrant agenda just sucks.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers shot a man in Patterson on Tuesday morning, describing him as a wanted gang member who tried to run over an officer during a traffic stop.

Reminds me of the guys who "Attacked ICE agent with snow shovels" and video came out that it never happened. ICE shot the guy as he was fleeing which is illegal.

Wild how conservatives seem think the guy's immigration status is the major crime committed here, rather than the multiple murders.

Using a person murder to push an anti-immigrant agenda just sucks.
But if the murderer wasn't an immigrant or a homeless person, why would the murder matter at all? These people don't place inherent value on human life, it's all relational. Fundamental rights are liberal talk.

If deported, the murders go without any sense of justice for the families of the victims.

What is wild is how the authorities in “sanctuary cities” would rather protect violent criminals than turn them over to federal agents.

Why would you turn over someone who was arrested for murder? They'd want to put him on trial.

Family of man injured in Northern California ICE shooting speaks out, says he is not a gang member

Mendoza Hernandez's fiancée, Cindy, and an attorney representing the family assert that he is not a gang member. During a Wednesday news conference, Patrick Kolasinski said he received an update earlier in the morning from El Salvador that he was initially accused of a murder but was acquitted, so there should not be an active warrant for his arrest there.

My mind is blown. Who could have predicted this?

Don't worry Tswizxle, Beave, etc, I know you don't believe a word of it. I mean you can tell he's a criminal just by looking at him, right?

Don't worry, Stanislaus County's actual police are on the case, now. They may do shit-all about murders and gang violence as a rule, but when it comes to really serious crimes, like graffiti, jaywalking, or inappropriate gum disposal, they are there before the paint dries.

But, but, we are told by sanctuary city apologists that "sanctuary city" policies do not mean that criminal illegals are shielded by the local governments.

In reality, that's exactly what these policies mean. Same as in San Francisco, where felonious illegal named José Zárate was released by the SF sheriff's office even though he had an immigration detainer. He then went on to kill Kate Steinle, after which a SF jury allowed him to get away with that one as well. A mess of epic proportions.

Don't worry, Stanislaus County's actual police are on the case, now.
Any reason why people caught vandalizing property should not be arrested for vandalism? Is it because they wrote messages you agree with?
Would you be protective of vandals if they had written something like "illegals out" instead?

Also, why post such an oversized image? The by now not so new forum software allows for easy resizing of images.

That the guy's fiancée and his lawyer are defending him? Absolutely unpredictable, sure.

Just because he might have been aquitted of murder in El Salvador does not mean he is not here illegally, is not a gang member or that did not try to use his vehicle as a weapon when stopped.

It's not about those who already murdered somebody. It's about illegals being held on lesser crimes, but then released instead of being transferred to ICE custody. Like Chirinos-Munguia from thebeave's article, who was arrested for domestic violence and false imprisonment, but then released instead of honoring the ICE detainer. As far as I understand, the two murder happened after he was released instead of being deported.
Or take José Zárate, who had already been in federal custody. Then SF requested him for a drug charge. But instead of prosecuting him for it, or returning him to the feds, the sanctuary city of San Francisco just released him. Then he killed a young woman (and got away with it).

Not so. But illegals should not be here to begin with. Criminal illegals doubly so.
For example, had SF honored the immigration detainer against the felonious illegal José Zárate, Kate Steinle would still be alive.

But to left-wing nutjobs protecting illegals, including criminal illegals, is far more important than protecting their own citizens.

Step 1: Insist it's really about murder, not paranoid terror of foreigners.

Step 2: Continue to ignore the murder part.

Step 3: Go on and on about "illegals" and how dangerous and threatening they all are.

Step 4: Vote for a dictator because he hates the same people you do.
