Yet another war, this time with Iran

I wonder if Numbnuts knows he has to keep the straits open or the price at the pump is going to make his most ardent supporters start to pay attention.
Iran is not America first.
Price spike at the pump damn sure ain’t.
Just seen on the news the straits are basically closed already.

Lot of right wingers pretending Iraq and Afghanistan never happened because they can't admit any mistakes ever, because they're insecure little bitches.

That is a problem for India, because who get part of our supplies from Iran and Gulf countries. But there is no immediate concern. A bigger problem are exports to West, which will be affected by closure of air-space. Let us see how long does it last.

And you said nothing about JFK. I blame JFK for deepening American involvement in Vietnam, and LBJ, for turning it into a full-fledged war. I blame Eisenhower before them for instigating the whole mess in the first place. I blame G W Bush for Iraq. I blame the U.S. meddling illegally in nations all over the world.
I don't see you blaming US in meddling in Ukraine/Russia. Or in Romania recently.

The disaster in Ukraine is entirely the fault of the Nazi in the Kremlin.

The point stands: I and others blame the U.S. for a lot of bad things going back decades. Do you blame the Soviet Union/Russia for ANYTHING? Your wretched crap hole of a nation is paradise, is that it?

Well, it looks like the USA is headed to a war with Iran, even though there's very little support for such an action. Most of the support is in the defense industry or the entrenched government, because they are still pissed that the Iranians overthrew the Shah.

Trump is more aggressive in foreign policy this term than his previous, which is very unfortunate.

I think that going to war with Iran is a really, really bad idea.

Why do you think going to war with Iran is a really, really bad idea?

In the long run, kicking the mad mullahs out of power would be a good thing for the Iranian people and the world in general.
Awww look at Tswizzle. He's pretending he actually cares about people.

As long as the weather in Santa Monica is equable, all is right with the world.

Better not suggest that we take in Iranian immigrants fleeing instabilities we caused there, though.

He cares about them until they are hungry and jobless because we fucked over their economy and allowed the proliferation of private criminal power structures.

Never mind that he's going to be saying "Iranians don't belong on the US" when we were the ones who made the country unlivable.

Just wait till the present tense passes and we'll see all the care for these people that they show for the babies they force to be born.

Another thought occurs to me. It seems Trump has decided that it is appropriate international relations to remove from power the leader of another country. He has now done so twice.

He is setting up a precedent he may not like.
He is taking people out of power but doing little interior in the nation. It is weird. Typically a country steps in, sets up a government of their interest and support it. Trump arrests Maduro and tries to scare Venezuela into, well, giving the US a little oil. In Iran, Trump is telling the Revolutionary Guard to change something and the people to rise up.

Again, nation bldging on the cheap. Less risk to US military, but precarious foreign policy to say the least.

I'm so fucking tired of Trump's bravado and exaggeration!
article said:
“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before,” President Donald Trump said early Sunday in a post to Truth Social, responding to a vow of revenge by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. “THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!”
We nuked Japan. That is the high bar on military fury.

And as we await what happens to the Strait of Hormuz and if Iran has a scorched Earth policy in play, I wonder, just how significant was killing an 86 year old leader? Did they take out his protege as well?

I don't know the psychology of it but Trump does not know about a middle. Everything is smallest or biggest. Worst or best. There is no in between with him.

Speaking of Ben Gozzy...
The US and Israeli offensive has rocked much of the Islamic world. There were protests in Pakistan, where police on Sunday clashed with protesters who breached the outer wall of the US consulate in Karachi, leaving nine people dead, and outside the Green Zone in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, where the US embassy is located.

The numbers keep changing and I cannot tell how many are US citizens vs Pakistani security forces/civilians.

It would be a brave (or rather, foolhardy) tanker captain that would try to pass the straits while there is a war on.

And even if one were stupid enough to try, his insurance company and/or the owner of the vessel would likely veto his decision. .

I read this morning that the leader of Australia praised Trump for his attack on Iran. Is you country heading in the same direction as the US? Based on some other things I've read recently, it appears to be. Of course no leader is as deranged as Trump.?

We'd better hope they didn't get the entire leadership; If they did, who is going to be able to tell the Iranian military to stop?

Already the signs are that they are just firing at anything and everything they can hit.

It looks as though the late atatollah left individual units instructions that if they don't get any orders, they should just keep firing missiles and drones until they run out.

There's no strategic or even tactical benefit to hitting the Burj al-Arab hotel, for example; It's a nonsensical target, unless the orders are just to fire off whatever you can, at whatever you like.

Many mullahs are saying...
> that MIGA clubs sprang up spontaneously across Iran by early Saturday
> that MIGA merch will kickstart their stalled economy; expect to see Drain the Wadi shirts as the hottest item for the youngsters, and for the older set, the MyPillow ottoman cushion. Every home will need an Allah Bless Iran special edition Qu'ran, of course, which includes the original handwritten lyrics to Midnight at the Oasis and Ahab the Arab.
> that of course, guaranteed, the security forces and the protesters will now join hands and create a strong government dedicated to peace and human rights. They know a stable genius when they hear one.
