The problem is diesel drops don't impact prices overall until later. They'd see diesel go down, maybe gasoline a little, unless nation's stop exporting crude to the US, but it wouldn't impact the wallets much. Heck, gasoline might even go up a little due to the refineries making less money diesel.Well he only needs the effect in the US to last a couple of weeks, if he times the ban for mid-October.ban would drive prices up across the globe, make diesel prices drop in the US... but then pop back up to where they were.
You don't seriously think that fucking up the entire world, including (or even particularly) the USA, would in any way give him pause in implementing a change that might slightly improve his party's performance in the mid-terms, do you?
I suspect that his base would be ecstatic at a sharp drop in diesel prices, and would utterly fail to heed any warnings about future prices, or about devastating effects on the US economy in the not-quite-as-short term.
But they would see MAGA hats in their eyes, and they'd swoon!
