I understand the physics of the 325#, but remember, you'd be behind him in a moment of life or death. It would be like that Seinfeld where Kramer is stuck behind the farting horse, only...worse, substantially worse, and most likely, liquid to semi-liquid. At that point you'd have to seriously compare drone fire to backfire from Trump. God only knows what your decision should be. I'm not sure that a Herculean figure like Hegseth could survive such a double peril.

It would almost certainly be cheaper, easier, and better to scrap each carrier and design and build a new one from scratch; The Electro-magnetic vs Steam catapult decision affects almost every part of the ship.

It's like deciding to change your mind about whether to use a steel or a timber frame for your house, after construction has finished - replacing the frame, while keeping everything else, is not only gonna cost far more than demolishing the lot and starting again, but will also result in a house that shows the scars of the refit everywhere.

Okay... this shit was done to Hillary Clinton back in 2016, and it was crass then. We shouldn't give a darn about this sort of stuff. We need to be concerned with mental competence and the actions of his administration. This rump stuff is a distraction from what matters.
