Virus Blasphemy

He is my shield and my succor in time of need. Scripture says: 'They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.' Gospel of Mark, Chapter the Sixteenth. Hell, I aint a-scared of no caroney bug! Ya can't even see 'em, and I can see a sarpint. You sayin the LORD cannot put down a caroney bug?

Pretty much what doctors said when Lister and Pasteur suggested you might want to wash hands between patients. One critic used to carry a flyswatter on rounds in case he saw any of Lister's little bugs trying to infect his patients.

I think you are referencing Semmelweis. Only when it was noticed by many that Semmelseis's patients had a higher rate of survival did it occur to them that he was on to something. But then it took many years to stop bleeding ill patients.

No, referencing a biography of Lister. But, hey, lots of people have resisted lots of science all thru our stupid history.
It's a wonder we stopped cleansing houses of the sick with lark's tongue and boiled anthills, really, on the basis of if it doesn't work, no need to fix it.

I read somewhere that the human immune system is really quite robust compared to othrr species on the planet. I begin to suspect if this is true, it's because other soecies either get better or they die.
They don't have the third option of listening to stupid opinions or half-assed guesses, or half-remembered what-gramma-dids, forcing us to get better in fucking spite of dumbass ourselves

God they’re stupid. Everyone else on the planet could have predicted that.

I was raised Church of Christ and there is a sect among them that believe you have to use one cup in the communion. They believe the cup represents the new testament per luke 22: 20. They use grape juice instead of wine, so dont get any protection somewhat from alcohol found in wine. I wonder what the corona virus is going to do to them?

Charles Darwin may be able to answer that one.

Huh? The usual - if 93% of them survive, it's "PRAYZAH LOAD!"
Y'know we're all called home anyhow.

If it wouldn’t affect so many other people, I’d say let them follow their beliefs, wherever that may take them.

Evangelicals tend to flock together. They also tend to worship an orange demon, and if they wish to gather together to celebrate their common values I support them in that 100%.

Except that they do not, after gathering together, follow this Biblical injunction: .2 Corinthians 6:17 "Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you."

I'm not falling for it. What I'm saying is that if they believe it's a Democrat hoax why would they make an effort to spread it? A hoax is no actual threat.
It USED to be a hoax, now it's bad.
And it used to be bad to politicize the pandemic, but that's old news, too.

Animal Farm plague-craft

My branch of the Church of Christ sometimes used cups, sometimes mini holders on a tray--to help prevent infects, I believe--actual wine was not considered uncanonical, but for prudence's sake it was only used in an emergency, when grape juice was not to be found.

Lutheran, MS. We used the common cup quite often when I was young.

I worked at a church camp about 80,000 years ago (long story.) We had a numb-nuts counselor who took pity on some inner city kids in his tent who had arrived with virtually nothing. Being Christian, he shared his toothbrush with them -- and they all got scarlet fever. Praise Him.

Well, this was fucking obvious:

A church revival that took place in mid-March has been linked to at least 28 cases of the novel coronavirus and two deaths in a small Kentucky community.

Remember when the conspiracy was that Obama was bringing the US under Sharia Law? I think Christians are doing a fucking great job on their own making America less Christian.

I love it that the trump supporters are actively trying to kill themselves.

They'll gladly sacrifice 5-10% of themselves to prop up their oligarch overlords.
