Victory for Islamic Hatred of ... Well, Everything

... The Americans spent most of that century trying to distance themselves from their European roots... A good example of this 're-invention' is Webster's dictionary, that tried to simplify English to make it more 'modern' and 'efficient'.

The Victorian English then adopted a number of these American 'new traditions', as they sought to distance themselves from the fairly racy old time festivals, and to re-write history as a bucolic affair of benign Kings and Queens, leading to the pinnacle of achievement in civilisation that was Her Imperial Britannic Majesty, and Empress of India, Her Royal Highness Queen Victoria. ...
If that's true then why the bloody hell did you lot muck it up and not adopt Webster's dictionary? It's spelled "civilization"! :poke_with_stick:

Dude, in my area, Valentine Day's school parties have been passe for some time, and their demise had nothing to do with Islam.
Yeah, the liability of too many wrenched knees caused by figure fours just made lawyers want to give up on Valentines Day.

Valentine's day stuff in schools is a way for the ugly and unpopular kids to feel especially ugly and unpopular.

The frog in the pot is starting to get warm. Anyone want to start a "USA submits voluntarily" thread? :cheeky:
Today on people think you can involuntarily keep a frog in a pot of water at any temperature...

If you put a frog in a pot of water on top of a stove, it'll jump out. Even if the stove is off. Enough with that ridiculous imagery.

Well, even back when I was a kid (early '70's) it was the rule that all kids had to get a card, so the ugly and unpopular kids wouldn't feel bad about themselves. Sort of like the "everyone gets a trophy" meme. Most of the kids, the guys especially, thought the whole thing was pretty ridiculous as I recall. Honestly, I can't imagine most kids or adults will miss it if it goes away. Except maybe the ugly and unpopular kids who haven't figured out it was a scam to begin with.

It seems to me that most religious leaders object to their followers observing holidays from different religions.

Don't we have to put up with that Halloween shit every year?

It is square dancing with candy.

So, they're eliminating long standing traditional American holidays in some schools in Minnesota, per the OP, and now this is happening in some New York schools:

(CNN)New York City public schools will now observe two Muslim holidays, officials announced Wednesday, making the district -- the nation's biggest -- one of the few to put Islamic holy days on its calendar.

Under the change announced by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and city Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina, there will be no class for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, starting next September 24. Another Muslim holiday, Eid al-Fitr -- a festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan -- will become a holiday for those in summer school starting in 2016.

One of my friends has younger children (kindergarten through grade 6) in Minnesota public schools. At her younger children's school, instead of eliminating holiday celebrations, they celebrate holidays from all cultural and religious traditions.

Just pointing out that there's more than one way to handle diversity. Pretending it doesn't exist isn't the only way. One can actually embrace it and celebrate it.

All it means is it is recognized on the calendar. Students that observe that holiday will not be penalized for not being in school. Wow.......that's submission!!

When will these schools start giving the day off for Darwin day?
Recognizing it on the school calendar is NOT giving the students the day off. It just means the kids that take that day for religious purposes will not be penalized for unexcused absence. I don't understand why this is such an issue.
