Trump decides to nuke... the USA.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4gzq2p0yk4o

President Donald Trump called on US military leaders to resume testing US nuclear weapons...

The last time the US tested a nuclear bomb was 23 September 1992. The test took place at an underground facility in the western state of Nevada.
Trump is so stupid that he doesn't understand two things.
Firstly, testing delivery systems isn't the same as exploding nuclear weapons.
Secondly, that do not any longer do actual weapon tests, as computer simulations produce superior data, plus being much cheaper and not producing radiation.

I think largely his intent is to do these "tests" in such a way that some hidden primary goal is achieved.

And to be clear I don't think anything Trump will be doing since his "IQ" test is actually the will of Trump, but more the will of those who "handle" him.

Don't you typically test new stuff, not older stuff?

But President Entropy gotta entrope.

His daddy taught that him real men blow shit up, rape women and keep the niggas in their place. So that’s what he’s trying to do. Unfortunately nothing will ever be good enough for daddy.

Last night when I first saw this on reddit, my first thought was that his "testing" is going to be done somewhere ecologically sensitive and protected, like the boundary waters or the Alaskan wilderness.

No one does surface testing anymore... for several reasons. But Donald Nobel Prize Trump might just do it regardless.

Nobody does surface testing, but that's not the point.

The point to such an action would be for the sake of some other goal, like covering nuclear action against a liberal city (I sure fucking hope not, but it's LeHay or whatever his fucking name is put it on the bingo card), or turning the boundary waters recreational area into a blasted wasteland that they then send all the trans people or whatever to mine, as per "the colonies" in The Handmaid's Tale (HBO version).

In Trump's 'mind' blowing up stuff is a sign of manliness, strength and power. Plus, all the other despots test weapons so why not him?
I don't know what's worse, though, the idea of him just blowing up a nuke for the sake of "I wanna set off nuke and see big boom", the idea that someone is manipulating him into setting off a nuke somewhere for the sake of some ulterior motive, or the idea that someone after-the-fact thinks it could be profitable for him to do it.

It's all just fucking insane that anyone wants to cause nuclear explosions anywhere; we already know the few events that have happened have made it much harder to do certain research and testing.

In fact, nuclear events cause dramatic setbacks to the development of better nuclear imaging technologies like MRI and the associated suites of higher energy imaging that are the direct underpinning of many modern pushes to map the human brain.

It's just such a phenomenally bad idea to set off nuclear weapons and contaminate the world that way.

Trump is set to revive many heirloom American practices and products. The major rollup is set for New Years 2026, with the establishment of the Return to Utopia Office in the WH, co-chaired by Brian Kilmeade and Steven Miller. Top initiatives:
1- The return of Fizzies -- Trump's FDA will eliminate all regs that made Fizzies vanish in the 70s. This of course follows the triumphant return of Coca Cola with real cane sugar.
2- The O Henry! bar returns -- a no-brainer; the perfect follow-up to a Big Mac with large fries.
3. Alcatraz reopens. To include a Woke Wing following the mass trials set for mid-'27. Budget set to include cell bedding by MyPillow's 'Economy and Incarceration' line.
4. The 2026 Edsel. Triumphant return as a luxury car, with an even more gynecological grille. WH sources say Trump is eager to have "vagina neck" rechristened as "Edsel neck".
5. Dick and Jane readers in all public schools that receive federal funding. WH aides are removing all references from the President's public statements, as he continually refers to the books as Dick in Jane.
6. Department of War to be rebranded as Department of Fire and Fury Like the World Has Never Seen.
7. Whale Oil Lamps - We once lived our lives by the light of pure, clean whale oil. Pres. Trump fully supports the return of this industry. Also championed by Melania: "Womens, jou look so mush bedder wid de whale oil. Like in de boook, Moby Deek."
8. Organized prayer in public schools. Why the fuck not. Get your Jesus.
9. Minstrel shows -- rolling back the woke assault on this once-lucrative employment opportunity for white males. The return of family entertainment.
10. Still in development: Cisgender Ice Capades, NIH leech therapy, Late Night with Mike Johnson, Brylcreem Dog Fighting Championships, NHFL (helmetless), more to be announced in about two weeks.

We haven’t done a nuclear test since 1992. So what is the argument for doing this? Are there any technical benefits to resuming testing?

The question is: What sort of testing are we talking about? The U.S can presently test nuclear weapons in every way, shape or form—except for doing explosive tests that create yield. The U.S. now does so-called subcritical tests about 1,000 feet under the Nevada desert. And so it’s very unclear what the president means.

So like what does he mean, clearly it's for show and so that means above-ground, probably the ocean or Nevada....?

Project 2025 called for resuming underground tests, though. Would Trump’s announcement seem to point in that direction—basically, to the U.S. once again blowing up such weapons underground?

During the last [Trump] administration, [officials] spoke of being ready to resume nuclear testing. And they discovered that it would be a couple of years before they could do it. Then they started talking about doing “uninstrumented” tests—which are literally pointless.

You get no data from an uninstrumented test. It’s just a demonstration. All you do is demonstrate that we have functional nukes. It’s really unclear why you would do that.

Wait, Project 2025 had this?!

Oh, also, this seems to confirm it is for show.

Well, we should remember that everything about p2025 was just the parts they were willing to publish.

That said, NKorea uses nuclear "tests" as a means of sabre rattling.

I wouldn't put it past him to joke about nuking certain liberal cities.
