I just checked on WaPo. They showed a very edited video of Musk's speech only partially showing the second salute. You would not have been able to tell what happened from the WaPo clip.

I liked how he made a noise during the first salute even though it is a bad thing...

I read in a comment in a similar video that in Nazi Germany it was common for the person to salute the crowd and then salute Hitler or a picture of Hitler (and turn their back to the audience). It is ironic that immediately after that Musk says "it is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured".
BTW I was wondering if Nazis ever put their hand on their chest/heart before the salutes?

1:16 "can you imagine how awesome it would be to have American astronauts plant the flag on another planet for the first time?" Maybe with Trump, etc, Musk will be able to send people to Mars fairly soon after all....

So besides Mars he is barely promising much.... I think "the future of civilization is assured" means that the human race will survive if something were to happen to Earth.

Colonizing Mars will be far more difficult.

Establishing a Mars colony that can survive indefinitely withoit support from Earth will be close to impossible.

There isn't much that could happen to Earth to render it so inhospitable that Mars is a better choice for humanity.

They might at least spend large amounts on going to Mars - DOGE is generally about cutting lots of costs but it seems it will involve spending money on Mars ("we're going to take DOGE to Mars"). It was odd that Mars is the only thing in the future Musk says he is looking forward to. Well at least they're not over promising on non-Mars related things.
I guess Trump will do what he can to help Musk go to Mars. So Musk's plan is becoming more likely even if it is still pretty unlikely.

Musk supports and has done speeches for a far right party in Germany that has been said are equivalent to Nazis. I don't remember the name of the party.

This isn't trolling. Remember how OJ Simpson got after he was acquitted? This is similar. Musk and Trump feel invulnerable at the moment. Trump is generally self-deluded, but he was enabled so much by the GOP and surviving an assassination attempt, just makes him possibly megalomaniac. They are clearly pushing limits. They aren't Nazis, but they are fascists.
