I always think these articles are interesting, especially in light of the fact that a million pilgrims travel yearly to Jerusalem to make pretend contact with their Savior.

Of course there's precisely nothing to indicate this is anymore where a Jesus person was tried than where he flew back into the sky after saving everyone from their sins. But I thought it was an interesting article archaeologically.

Why is it that whenever two more stones are found in the middle east it means another bible tale is literal fact? I'm certain it will make for entertaining reading, sales, and lots more pilgrim dollars.

Eh.
Whey i was a kid, someone found a painted ceremic tile on a beach in the Carribbean and declared it as evidence for Atlantis. For most of the 70's, any cave or temple painting where the head wasn't quite in scale with the body, it was proof of aliens in space-suits contacting primitive man.
It all depends on what's selling best on the New Age shelves....

I heard a report on this and was surprised when the report ended without offering the slightest bit of evidence that Jesus was ever within 100 miles of there.

If you are taught that evidence is a bad path to the truth, then of course all evidence gets interpreted as supporting your claims.

You can't really blame them. They were taught to use a bad epistemology.

Sounds superstitious to me.

Is this custom superstitious? It is if one doesn't believe in the intercession of Saints....

I agree that worrying about St. Josephs attitude makes little difference, but these are the people that yelled at both of my kids for making the sign of the cross incorrectly. One used the wrong hand, one went in the wrong direction. (After the yelling, one did it with both hands, to be safe, one just stopped doing it all together. More yelling, at 2nd graders.... Catholic schooling may have done more for making my kids atheist than i ever did).

When you're attempting to have discussions with people who adhere to these beliefs there's lots of heat and very little light. It's best to save your time and breath.

Are you telling me all the Government needed to do was produce large enough statues and bury them in front of homes to prevent the housing bubble from popping. Would have cost a bunch less than TARP!

I guess secularism cost us big time in forgetting about Saint Joseph, the Patron Saint of Real Estate Appraisal.

Significantly fewer gunshots per semester than the public school for 7th grade in that part of Jacksonville. So we sent all three kids to private school that year.

You can filter out the insanity at home and as you go along. But there are times it's the best educational option. And it just about guarantees he'll appreciate his intellectual atheist freedom.

I went to a Catholic college as an atheist. Best part about people being the same general religion, the subject doesn't really come up. And the Biblical literature courses were very very good.
