No, it is not reasonable to believe that microwaves turn into cameras. Not even if you read it from reaganisgod.com. Not even if Alex Jones said it on his radio show. Not even if you believe all of those "durn smart people in them that universities are against God and oil companies" and are conspiring to take away your guns (hint: they aren't).

Microwaves do not "turn into cameras" and even if they did, it is not reasonable to claim that Obama did it to Trump during the election.

First, if Obama used the resources of the FBI against Trump, the election would have turned out very different.

Second, if Obama spied on Trump during the election, Trump would now have evidence that this happened, and Trump would have shown said evidence to the public by now.

Lastly, did I mention that microwaves do not turn into cameras? If not, this point should probably be stressed.

Microwaves do not turn into cameras. If you are confused on this point, ask the nearest five year old.

That's assuming someone taught him how to use the big phone on the desk to get ahold of the FBI, and that he paid enough attention to remember it when he needed it.

As it is, he probably has to ask Bannon, who tells him whatever he already knows to be true...

You can make microwaves and cameras from dirt.
Trump better investigate that!

It should be possible to install a small camera into a microwave but not the cooking part.

Actually I would think it would be very hard to install a camera into a microwave. How are they going to make a camera that won't get fried?

(Of course you could put a camera off to the side in the case but not in the business end of it.)

Well, there are smart home refrigerators with cameras in it I think. So I am sure someone will find a way to to employ camera in microwave somehow.

As long as it's shielded from EM radiation it will be fine inside microwave.

Speaking of crazy ladies. I know one which recently told me she regularly observes flying saucers in the sky she even showed me a cell phone picture of it and promised to show me it in real the next time she sees it. Suffice to say it turned out to be planet Venus and her not so perfect anymore vision which made it look like a bunch of lights.
Amusing part is that she was not that surprised by regular appearance of aliens.

It is irrelevant whether or not a camera could be mounted in a microwave; The claim under dispute is whether a remote hacker could turn your microwave into a camera, and clearly this is not possible.

The problem here is that Kellyanne Conway is representative of the rise to power of the ignorant moron. In case you hadn't noticed, ignorant morons have become more and more influential in recent years; They were always a majority, but until recently the elites have been able to keep them in their place, by creating an environment wherein ability, expertise, and knowledge were given respect.

All that has gone; The ignorant morons are now taught not only that expertise and knowledge are not worthy of respect; but also that their own opinions are valuable - that everyone's opinions are valuable (and therefore equally worthy of our attention).

Now, given that we live in a highly technological age, this causes a number of issues; and Conway's assertion is emblematic of these issues - In the world of the ignorant moron, technology is indistinguishable from magic. The ability to wield that quasi-magical power imbued experts and the holders of knowledge with awe and respect; And the ignorant morons assumed that these magi could, if they chose, do anything at all. Getting a microwave to heat up a cold slice of pizza is magic; Getting the same microwave to take photos and transmit them to Obama's secret bunker is equally magic. So both are equally plausible.

What has changed is not that stupid people now think that microwave ovens can be used to spy on them; It is that people who hold such moronic, ignorant, uneducated, and downright stupid beliefs are now allowed to hold positions of authority, responsibility and power; and to make decisions that affect everybody.

This seems to be a worldwide phenomenon, and I suspect that the Internet is responsible - never before were ignorant morons able to find a community of like-minded ignoramuses so readily.

Brexit, the election of Trump, and the rise of the small-minded nationalist worldwide are all symptoms of this; The supporters of these terrifying events are overwhelmingly drawn from the ranks of the ignorant and uneducated, and they cannot be reasoned with, as they do not value reason. They are numerous, and they accept no authority other than pure democracy, so they cannot accept reality unless it is agreed to by the masses - and the masses are incapable of grasping the realities of a modern society.

They are simple people, and they demand simple answers; And they WILL NOT accept the merest hint that the questions and their answers are anything other than simple; To suggest that complexity exists is to lay claim to the value of expert opinion over the massed opinions of the morons. And that is elitism, and cannot be allowed.

The ignorant masses really are the salt of the Earth - hard, square, and bad for your health. Most everyday technology no longer requires expertise to operate it; and until the morons have broken society to the point where the value of experts once again becomes so obvious that even they can see it, they will not be persuaded that knowledge and expertise are valuable.

We have impressed upon people that they are allowed to think for themselves; But we have failed to teach them how to think (for fear of upsetting those who do not wish to think; and for fear of the dangers of teaching people what to think), and this is the result. They want to be led, but are wary of being misled; So they follow people who are prepared to tell them what they want to hear, and refuse to follow anyone who dares to contradict their conspiracist nonsense. The only way to gain power in this environment is to be utterly unscrupulous - and so no person with scruples can come to power, and we are led by crooks and idiots, while they are cheered in their efforts by the great mass of ignoramuses who are too stupid to see that ignoring the advice of the knowledgeable is a recipe for disaster.

We are witnessing the Dunning-Kruger effect on a planetary scale. It remains to be seen whether our civilization will survive it.

bilby, agreed. I wish journalists and politicians were allowed to lose it from time to time and really and publicly say what they think about other people to their stupid faces. But that would not be "smart" from keeping your job perspective be you a journalist or politician. Majority of voters/TV watchers are thin skinned idiots. Hillary of course knows what I am talking about, of course her "basket of deplorables" was an "unfortunate accident" on her part not a general behavior.

Installing a camera into a microwave or a teddy bear will 'turn it' (also) into a camera. I would think that those engaged in espionage devise ways of surveillance that the target would not envisage.

This is ignorance above and beyond the realm of believable. Kelly Ann Conway has all the sensibility of a 4 year old.
Idiocy beyond belief. Apparently she hasn't the sense to google about such things, or ask somebody to vet her before she blurts out nonsense like this.

Such idiocy is more common than you think, I am surprised you are so shocked. Most people in politics are as dumb as it gets.

Obviously Obama has kidnapped Cheato's brain, and is deliberately causing him to act like a corrupt half-witted incompetent. I bet Cheato never suspected it.

Of course you can make a camera using microwaves.
 Microwave imaging
:tonguea:
Although the resolution using 12cm waves is quite limited.

Is that how you are defending Conway?
When I initially heard about this, I assumed, she meant microwave imaging. Because, um... microwave ovens obviously can't be used as cameras. And putting a hidden camera in a microwave would be putting a hidden camera in a microwave... not turning a microwave into a camera.

Someone better not tell her that technology exists to capture conversations using super sharp cameras measuring the vibrations on something near the people.

George HW Bush was amazed and wow'd by scanning tech at the grocery store, but that was mainly because he hadn't shopped for himself in decades. This is Alex Jones level conspiracy theory shit that Conway is ranting about, which isn't typically among spokespeople for a sitting US President.
