After watching a lot of television in the seventies, I figured by now I would have encountered quicksand a lot more than I have.

I spent a lot of my childhood wondering about what to do if I was on fire near quicksand. Should I still stop, drop and roll? Run a little ways away before stopping dropping and rolling? Will quicksand put out the fire if I can find the edge of the quicksand where it’s not deep enough to suck me in? I still don’t have answers.
