NFL 2024

AFC is stacked. Unfortunate only one team can go to the Super Bowl.

Ravens beat the Ravens up pretty damn good, and still had a chance to beat the Bills. At the time, I thought the 2 pt conversion try was unnecessary, and the reward wasn't worth the risk. It'd cost them at the end, when a single point would have tied it.
The Ravens lost by two. The 2 point try was absolutely necessary.

I turned it off at halftime. I've seen this movie before, and expected them to make a big comeback and then lose because of a final, deadly self-inflicted wound.

In the fourth quarter, yes. I meant the earlier attempt.

We should keep politics out of this... oh wait... you meant the game. Sorry. ;)

Now the Bills worry about something somewhat similar. The Chiefs can be really good at playing football... and really good at getting things to go their way as well.

Man, this whole dynasty thing sucks when it isn't the Patriots. The Chiefs should let someone else win.

Pitiful performance from the Chiefs but their performance was better than the halftime show.

Also, why are half time shows just rappers anymore? There is more to music than this crap.
You mean why are halftime shows no longer ignoring that a good percentage of the population likes Hip Hop? If you go back to 2019, and before, the list includes almost no Hip Hop.

The Halftime Show has long been a subject of little interest to me. The only time that wasn't bad was U2's in 2001/02 in the Rams v Pats Super Bowl. And they just did two songs.

Almost none of the Halftime Shows include content I prefer. I would have killed for an 18 minute Yes rendition of the National Anthem.

The NFL gave the contract to Jayzee's company in 2019. I expect that's why rap is at the fore.

That was my second favorite halftime of all, only topped in 2022, which also had the best game of all time.

Along that line, yesterday's game proved, and I think we could all agree, that the real Super Bowl was played in the divisional game in Philadelphia. Rams were the only team to get close to beating them.

MUSTAAAAAAAAAARRD!

Blasphemy.

Fucking NFL.

They are ignoring the significant fraction of the population that does not like hip hop. Why should one style of "music" have a stranglehold on an event watched by all kinds of people.

It was musically far more diverse than after 2019.
After 2019:
2020: Shakira/JLo
2021: Weekend
2022: Dr. Dre and many other rappers, incl. Kendrick Lamarr
2023: Rihanna
2024: Usher and some rappers
2025: Kendrick Lamarr

As you can see, pretty one-note, especially 2021 and after. Lamarr was even on twice in 4 years!

Acts in the 2010s:

2010: The Who
2011: The Black Eyed Peas + others
2012: Madonna + others, including rappers
2013: Beyonce
2014: Bruno Mars
2015: Katy Perry
2016: Coldplay + others
2017: Lady Gaga
2018: Justin Timberlake
2019: Maroon 5

Greater diversity of music genres, time periods etc. than after 2020. There were even rappers there, so your claim that rap/hip-hop was ignored is not correct.
Before 2010 there was also a willingness to go with different kinds of acts. Prince and the Rolling Stones for example. Or U2 as you said.
