I saw him interviewed by Jon Stewart and he was great. He has a wonderful sense of humor and was laughing about all the assholes who have accused him of so many horrible things. He is very charismatic and bright. Good you get to vote for him. We need more politicians with his courage and willingness to help the poor and the middle class, instead of the wealthy assholes who are now ruining the country.

Meanwhile, I mentioned on another thread that a stupid nurse I worked with briefly had posted on Facebook that she's praying Mamdani will lose. Stupid Trump supporter. Doesn't she realize that is Jesus were around, he'd vote for Mamdani since the two of them have a lot in common, even if Jesus was a mythological character. I just don't get such stupidity.
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * In the spirit of George Carlin and Christopher Hitchens, the son of a former Catholic nun and a Franciscan brother delivers a deeply irreverent and biblically correct takedown of far-right Christian hatred—a book for believers, atheists, agnostics, and anyone who’ll ever have to deal with a Christian nationalist.
The author of that book was on one of the late night shows a few weeks ago. I've thought abut getting it for my kindle, but there are so many books I'd like to read so not sure if I'll get that one.I saw him interviewed by Jon Stewart and he was great. Another Mamdani puff piece, this time focusing on his Islamic faith. And too many on this supposedly freethinker forum are eating it up with a spoon. SMH.
I do not think he is very bright, because otherwise he would not espouse cockamamie ideas like freezing rents. He also had an academically less than rigorous major in college (Africana Studies). He has also been, from all accounts, a pretty unimpressive state legislator.I saw him interviewed by Jon Stewart and he was great. He has a wonderful sense of humor and was laughing about all the assholes who have accused him of so many horrible things. He is very charismatic and bright.
I do not think his policies will help the "poor and the middle class". A lot will also depend on how steadfast Hochul is, because many of his proposals require assent from Albany. Unfortunately, she may fear a primary challenge from the Left and thus be inclined to roll over and submit.Good you get to vote for him. We need more politicians with his courage and willingness to help the poor and the middle class, instead of the wealthy assholes who are now ruining the country.
You don't have to be a Trump supporter to reject Mamdani, both his socialism and his hatred of Israel.Meanwhile, I mentioned on another thread that a stupid nurse I worked with briefly had posted on Facebook that she's praying Mamdani will lose. Stupid Trump supporter.
Why do you think Jesus would vote for Mamdani? And which Jesus do you mean? The Second Person of the Trinity or the Judean carpenter? Or the hypostatic union of the two?Doesn't she realize that is Jesus were around, he'd vote for Mamdani since the two of them have a lot in common, even if Jesus was a mythological character. I just don't get such stupidity.
I’m sure she wishes they had that in common.Doesn't she realize that is Jesus were around, he'd vote for Mamdani since the two of them have a lot in common, even if Jesus was a mythological character.
Another Mamdani puff piece, …
Two new polls released on Thursday showed Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani maintaining or expanding his sizable lead in the New York City mayoral race, as the two other major candidates strive for a late surge in the final days of the campaign.
A poll by Emerson College showed 50 percent of likely voters supporting Mr. Mamdani, the Democratic front-runner, who has led the field since his upset victory in the June primary. His main rival, former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, had the support of 25 percent of likely voters, a few points ahead of Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee, at 21 percent.
The other poll, by Marist University, showed Mr. Mamdani with a 16-point lead and as the only candidate viewed favorably by a majority of likely voters. The poll also showed a closer race in a hypothetical matchup between Mr. Cuomo and Mr. Mamdani, with Mr. Cuomo trailing by just seven points.
On Wednesday, Mr. Cuomo and Mr. Sliwa campaigned on Staten Island, looking to attract Republicans and independents, and Mr. Mamdani traveled to the Bronx to court voters who cast their ballots for Donald J. Trump last year. On Thursday, the candidates — and voters — are facing rain and blustery winds, with up to two inches of rain in Manhattan. though the campaigns said the weather would not dissuade them.
You're becoming a parody of the right wing. There is ... nothing bigoted about recognizing that not all cultures are equivalent.
It's an opinion piece where the subject was puffed up. In other words, a puff piece. It is not a puff piece, it is an opinion piece.
By a Muslim writer who sees so-called "Islamophobia" behind every rock.By a Muslim writer who describes the exhaustion and humiliation that Muslims face from bigots.
No. An MSNBC puff piece celebrating Mamdani's Islamic faith means nothing to me.Of course that means nothing to you.
Yahoo said:Nair claimed in a 2013 interview with Indian outlet Hindustan Times that Mamdani is completely culturally Indian, and that they are not Western at all.
New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was described as "not American at all" by his mother, Mira Nair, in a resurfaced interview from 2013.
[...]
"He is very much us. He is not an American at all," said Nair. "He was born in Uganda, raised between India and America. He is at home in many places. He thinks of himself as a Ugandan and as an Indian."
If you really think all cultures are equivalent, then I would have described you as a parody of a left-winger, except that this attitude is unironically embraced by the contemporary Left. Y'all are beyond parody. You're becoming a parody of the right wing. There is ... nothing bigoted about recognizing that not all cultures are equivalent.
I hope, for the sake of the City, that this poll is wrong.A poll by Emerson College showed 50 percent of likely voters supporting Mr. Mamdani, the Democratic front-runner, who has led the field since his upset victory in the June primary.
That is a little better, but still not good by any means.
Jerusalem Post said:New York City Jewish voters have consolidated behind mayoral candidate and former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, according to a Wednesday Quinnipiac University poll ahead of the Tuesday election.
Sixty percent of Jewish respondents said that if the election were held during the survey period between October 23 and 27, they would vote for Cuomo, while 16% said that they would vote for NY Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani.
Without explaining the dimension(s) by which cultures are compared, equivalence has no meaning.
JTA — Zohran Mamdani leads among Jewish voters by a 17-point margin in the race to become New York City’s next mayor, according to a new poll.
The survey from Zenith Research and Public Progress Solutions predicted that Mamdani would dominate all four of his opponents combined, with 50 percent of the vote. The Democratic nominee shifted the landscape of New York politics with his primary victory over former Governor Andrew Cuomo last month.
The Zenith Research and Public Progress Solutions poll surveyed 1,453 New Yorkers from July 16-24, noting a 2.9% margin of error among registered voters and a slightly higher margin among Jewish voters, due to sample size. Public Progress Solutions, which commissioned the poll, is led by Amit Singh Bagga, a Mamdani ally.
Yes, the article and the poll are old. The Quinnipiac poll I posted is much more recent. The poll is a few months old so it may not be correct now,
That is a mistake.but I read in several other places that polling among Jewish voters in NYC had at least 43% who said they would vote for Mamdani. It's primarily voters under the age of 44, but apparently they aren't afraid of a liberal Muslim who may have said some controversial things in the past.
It's not hard to appear good when interviewed by a sympathetic interviewer like Stewart, who has moved more left in recent years.I said it before. He did a fantastic job when Jon Stewart interviewed him. I loved that he could laugh at the criticism he's received. He's bright, idealistic, good hearted and has a great sense of humor, just what I'd like to see in all politicians. It amazes me that so many people who don't even live in the Northeast worry about the mayor of New York City when we have a psychopathic moron running the entire country.
NJ has had Republican governors such as Chris Christie. Note that he was a US attorney before that and his star rose after he prosecuted some would be Islamic terrorists, the Fort Dix Five.I'm more concerned about the governor race in NJ, since I grew up there and my sister still lives there. It's a close race with the Democrat having a rather small lead.
Indeed.I guess we will know how it turns out next week.
