Split New York City Mayoral Race

To notify a split thread.
"Absolutely nothing like this Donald Trump"???
Excuse me, but when you can order up 120,000 Chinese-printed Bibles for distribution to Americans hungering for scripture, then maybe we can call you a Christian. The more you know about the Trump Bible, the better it gets. Each Bible costs just under $3 to print, and the minimum price is $59.99, which will generate about $7 million in revenues. As the Bible says, "A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap." Call me an idealistic believer, but I would say that Trump has had a giant load poured onto his lap. Which makes him a Christian.

Trump and his friends are cutting off SNAP benefits while ripping up the White House to install a gold leafed monstrosity.
Donald "Goldmember" Trump's design choices are tacky af, but isn't SNAP the result of a shutdown spearheaded by Schumer?
They're too much like Jesus and very different from His human spokesmen.
Jesus (allegedly - in Matthew 10:34-37 KJV) said:
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

It doesn't bother me in the least, but that's me. I often don't even notice who or if a source of news endorses a candidate.
NYT may not have issued a formal endorsement, but they did publish this piece where majority of the "leaders" they polled liked Mr. Cardamom best.
Mamdani, Cuomo or Sliwa? 14 Leaders Rate New York’s Mayoral Candidates.
To suggest that NYT is overall negative on Mamdani, or even that they "constantly run hit pieces", as Politesse has suggested, is fantasy.
What does bother me is that so many Democrats in office either didn't endorse Mamdani or were very late with their endorsements.
No, what bothers me is that so many endorsed him, and that even some who were reluctant eventually caved. Hakeem Jeffries is not exactly a profile in courage in that regard.
WTF are they so afraid of? So many lies have been told about Mamdani
What lies in particular?
that the Dems should have been outspokenly supportive of him since the beginning.
Why? He is not even a real Democrat, but a Socialist, a member of the DSA.
He's a good guy with some idealistic goals. No politician ever gets everything they want, other than a dictator type like the one who is president and is constantly ignoring Congress and the courts.
I disagree that he is a good guy. His visceral hatred for Israel, which he has harbored since at least his college days, shows that.
Maybe he is sincere that he cares about "affordability". But his policy positions, like freezing the rent, are not going to work.
And unfortunately, only the mayor appoints members of the board that has the power to freeze rents on rent-controlled apartments.

The funny thing, all these attempts by the Party to destroy their own candidate aren't working at all. Mamdani went from a 1% nobody in the first poll, to the obvious frontrunner, in very little time. New Yorkers are evidently unmoved by the argument that big money is hesitant to back him.

The full verse is:

"Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete, therewith it shall be measured to you again."

That this prophecy should be fulfilled in the case of Mr Trump, I fervently if hopelessly pray.

Third Mayoral Debate. It aired Live on NBC this Saturday Night.

Dead on about Zoltar Rob Zombie's uncanny valley smile.

It's also very much like this thread. Eventually, it becomes all about Trump.

Donald "Goldmember" Trump's design choices are tacky af, but isn't SNAP the result of a shutdown spearheaded by Schumer?
No.

The senate is controlled by Republicans. They can make and change rules anytime at all. They can remove the filibuster rule for the CR. Even Trump is now calling for the filibuster to be removed.

However, they don't want to. It gives them the power to fire at will. Eliminate programs. The power to stop the SNAP program, a program they have wanted to eliminate for a very long time.

The GOP passed this bill knowing this would happen. The House GOP then left, so negotiations are not possible. Both parties are responsible, but you repeat GOP propaganda.

Which is why Schmer et al's tactics here are incomprehensible.

Again, why did Schumer et al think that shutting the government would help them?

Of course both parties are responsible in their own ways, but the shutdown was still spearheaded by Senate Dems. That is not GOP propaganda.

In any case, all this is veering too far from the topic of this thread, so I suggest we stop here.

the Dems did not shut down the government. The Republicans control house, senate and exec branches. This shut down belongs to Trump and his party.

That is GOP propaganda because the GOP has a majority in the Senate and has the power to use the”nuclear” option as Toni pointed out.
