I wish. Novels are just too hard for me. Way too many layers are needed to put one together well, and I'm not up to it. I've maxed out at about 30 pages for a short story.
Same, I don't have the motivation to write long books. Although, if I were ever to write a book it'd likely be non-fiction.
When I was younger I had a great urge to write a book, until the realisation that everything I wanted to write about would be near impossible to get published and have no market.
Nowadays I just write blog posts, and don't even share them widely. They don't take much effort and take care of my urge to create and have an audience. Mostly it's about the process of writing, more than anything. I think of them like painting, but with words. Just a fun little hobby.

I am not sure that I trust someone to write a novel, if they find the phrase 'National Novel Writing Month' too long to express in full.

I’m doing it because I have this story rattling around in my head. Been there for more than a decade and I need to get it out. It never needs to be sold, it just needs to be finished.
