Well, no shit... is't that basically the opening paragraph of EVERY communist banana republic we've screwed around with in the past 60 years? Hell, not even the communist ones, just the not-sufficiently-capitalist democratic ones. Fidel Castro, Emilio Aguinaldo, Reza Shah, and literally every American-Indian chief in history made this same faustian bargain with the U.S. and either turned it down because the cost was too high, or were rejected because "Fuck you, that dictator guy you're fighting is a lot nicer to us."
