My wife hates to cook. We survive by eating dinners from the hotplate at Whole Foods, or another high-end local grocery store, and getting pre-made, heat and eat meals from them on occasion.

But my wife hates grocery shopping too.

So recently we’ve subscribed to one of those meal delivery services. Some of them deliver all the ingredients for a dinner and you whip them together and cook them. The one we subscribe to – Cook Unity, delivers pre-made meals that you simply heat and serve. We get three chef-created meals a week with two servings apiece, so six meals total.

We’re four weeks in and so far, so good. Some of the choices are truly delicious. So far only one has been kind of bland. For a few extra dollars you can get a “premium” choice, and we’ve done that on occasion. Tonight, for instance, is Maryland crab cakes with a couple of sides.

The menu is large and is updated frequently. So far we have not lost interest.

The cost? – not that much more than we were spending already. To make up the remaining four days of the week, I cook a dinner from scratch, we have a dinner salad one day, we forage one day, and we order out one day.

We have a meal prep service here, ParTake Kitchen that prepares a week's worth of meals. Just order on line and go pick up on designated days.
They plan on a delivery service soon. Good. I suppose I'll be housebound on occasion in the not too distant future.
