A mass shooting occurred in San Diego at a Islamic Community Center. Two suicidal teens stole one of their mother's cars and weapons. Mother called the police. But just too many things to try and kill. Cops tried the schools first, because you know, that is still popular among suicidal teens who steal unsecured weapons. Though I feel for the mother, who'll likely be dealing with unfathomable grief losing a child as well as being the parent of a child that murdered people and unwittingly facilitated the attack. She knew something was wrong and didn't try to hide it and notified police as quickly as she could.

The facility had a few dozen children in it. A security guard... because America is so exceptional that Mosques and Temples need security... helped obstruct the shooters and died in his attempt to stop this shooting from becoming a massacre, which apparently is the low bar we have now in this country. Officers are crediting his efforts for the shooters not breaching the facility. Two other people were killed in the shooting.

Three dead victims, plus the dead shooters, can't tell if that qualifies as a mass killing anymore. After all, it is just another Mass Shooting Du Jour in America.

That is hardly something unique to the US. So to call America "exceptional" over it is strange.

Apparently he was a great wrestler: against males. Before more weird identity speculation, many wrestlers braid their hair because long, loose hair is a disadvantage during wrestling.

What reason is needed beyond clueless knee-jerk bigotry?

I was training a new driver a few weeks ago, a Bosnian. We encountered a delivery van that was blocking our route. I said "What an idiot", and my Bosnian mate responded "Probably a Serb". Which was absurdly implausible (very few Serbs in Brisbane, and nothing on the van to suggest any connection with Serbia), and totally unevidenced - but was clearly the go-to comment in his circle when encountering someone misbehaving. That is, it was pure bigotry.

It's not "entirely beyond the realm of possibility" that the shooters were space aliens here to start an interstellar war, either.

There's just zero evidence for such a wildly unlikely hypothesis.

Jumping to the assumption that the perpetrator of a bad deed might belong to your preferred targets for hatred is just pure knee-jerk bigotry. It's utterly unremarkable, until you make the mistake of doing it in front of an audience who don't share your biases.
