I was wondering because I had tried to convince a friendly acquaintance who used to be a JW to vote, but she still won't vote. She kept telling me that Jesus is the ruler of the world and other shit like that.

Our state's Minister for Education and the Arts was raised as a JW, and has never publically renounced his membership of that church, though that appears to stem more from a reluctance to talk about it, rather than an ongoing belief in its tenets.

Voting is mandatory here, and JW approaches to this vary. Many refuse to vote, and ask for the fine to be waived on the grounds of religious objection (this I believe is generally permitted by the AEC); Some attend the poll and have their names crossed from the list (thereby avoiding any penalty), but claim to cast a blank ballot. How many of the latter group actually cast a vote is unknowable, as it is a secret ballot.

As a state government minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly (the only chamber of the unicameral Queensland parliament), Langbroek presumably publically attends the ballot (I don't live in Surfers, or care enough to check, so I don't know), and obviously he tries to encourage everyone to vote (for him). Certainly he regularly votes in pariament itself.
