Even without sea level rise, that's a dumb place to build anything; The Pacific Plate has a nasty tendency to undergo megathrust slips under the North American plate, so tsunamis are a real threat.

That there hasn't been one for quite a while is the opposite of reassuring to those who understand plate tectonics.

Nice graph showing average temps and the "trend" indicating things are generally moving up over the last 34 years. Of interest, prior to the 1980s, the second warmest summer flanked the 1936 summer in 1934, at about 73.5 degrees. It wouldn't be until the mid 80s, that temperature would be approached within half a degree. In the last 20 years, near half of the summers have reached or exceeded that #2 summer. The low temp spikes have also been less than creep and more shooting up, from under 70 degrees in '92 to having the coolest summer in 12 years being more than two degrees warmer than that.
 
My thinking on these ocean front properties are they are not insurable for damage done by erosion and hence cannot be financed. From this I would venture to guess there are many cash purchases of these homes by people with the means to simply move on.
 
Median low June through September here was 73 in the 20th century. Now it is 77. 73 is the lower quartile of daily low temps in the mossy recent two decades. Dewpoint has also risen. The air is holding more vapor. 77 and saturated is far hotter than 73 and saturated. We have set numerous record warm minimums lately which is the case most summer lately. 82 with near saturated airmass at 5 AM makes outdoor work and athletic training miserable and potentially dangerous. At best you have significant performance declines because the body cannot cool itself if sweat doesn’t evaporate and the delta T between skin and air is too small for effective conductive cooling.

Climate is the average of weather. Our average weather has changed.
 
Another balmy day in Santa Monica but we survived. I must admit, as I made my way into the SFV, I put the top up on the car and ran the AC. It’s going to be a perfect weekend, pool, beer and grilling 😎🌞⛱️

I mean that's kind of similar bad logic. Just because there weren't "that many" doesn't mean it wasn't a problem worth dealing with, and no one should be consuming radium anyway.

I think the point is Lead was a broad environmental issue that affected some areas (urban) more than others. So it would be easy for someone to remain ignorant of the science if they were partisan enough.

And dealing with lead was expensive. Radium simply was removed from production, the radium watches pose no substantial hazard.

The rollback overturns 2024 Biden-era standards, which aimed to reduce carbon emissions from power plants by compelling coal and new gas-powered plants to either cut or use emissions technology to capture 90% of their climate pollution.

Power plants are the second largest source of planet-heating pollution in the US, after transportation, making up nearly 25% of the nation’s climate pollution. US power plants alone contribute 3% of total global climate pollution.

The current rollback is happening as the Trump administration pushes for more fossil fuels, notably coal, the most polluting fossil fuel.

Environmental organizations have heavily criticized the move and are saying they will take the issue to court. “The Trump administration is handing the fossil fuel industry a license to keep polluting,” said Holly Bender, chief program officer at the Sierra Club, adding that the organization “will fight back against this reckless and dangerous proposal with everything we have in the courts, in Congress, and in communities.”

The Sierra Club is run by a bunch of extremists.

This obsession with "carbon" needs to stop. It is not a "pollutant".
