Chronicles in the Trials and Tribulations of Hillary Clinton - Working Class Warrior(s) Speaking Fees

So if the Taliban were just "pro-business", whatever you think that means, they would be OK for you?

Yes and no. I wouldn't vote for them either for their other principles. But the problem is not having any principles.

The Republican party is not far from the Taliban.

Lost in religious delusion.

Dangerous.

We see what happens when they have power.

The invasion of Iraq and the destruction of the economy.

- - - Updated - - -

I can see somebody holding their nose and voting for Hillary because she is so much less dangerous than the Republicans.

But actually defending her, the woman who voted to authorize the invasion of Iraq.

I can't imagine why anybody would do that.

You say "partisan" as if you are not one from the opposite end of the spectrum. I have actually voted for Republican candidates at the state and local level, and for Libertarian, Independent and Green party candidates at the national level as well.

Well, that puts you ahead of me. I haven't voted for a Republican in at least 20 years.

Politicians like Hillary hurt their own party more than anything.

Partisans find themselves abandoning their supposed principles to defend shit like taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from Goldman Sachs and operating a homebrew e-mail server while acting as Secretary of State.

People who are normally big-government-will-work-if-we-just-get-the-right-people-in-there fanboys find themselves lamenting how all politicians are liars and we can't expect any better.

Another generation of youth becomes cynical.

It's no surprise Bernie got an astonishing 84% of the youth vote. They're not ready to settle for Hillary. Yet.

I find your support for the Democratic Party heart-warming.

That's awesome, neither has my wife. In fact she hasn't voted for anyone in 20 years, because she was not a registered voter. Her utter revulsion at the Republican front runners, and her interest in Bernie has changed that, however, and she will be exercising her right as a voter for the first time in this election.

No they won't. They'll just invest some free speech into a number of high ranking Senators and Representatives.
Yes, but before that they would shit a little.

If Bernie wins he win move to break up the banks and reduce the societal risk of banks that are too big to fail.

The government cannot keep paying out when corrupt institutions disrupt the system.

All people making a lot of money because banks are so large and competition is so small, and their insurance policy is paid for by the taxpayers, will not like this.

Bernie will do what with what Congress?

And there is another questions to ponder: Why would a greedy and ruthless and evil profiteering corporation pay for even the best speech in the world? How does hearing a Hillary Clinton speech translate to Goldman's bottom line? does she inspire them to be more ruthless and evil and greedy?

Did you not read any of my suggested reasons?

Having worked inside a few corporations I did not find any of them slightly plausible.

But I suppose we could just read the transcripts to become better informed about what gems of wisdom she was dropping that these Goldman Sachs people found so valuable.

I mean, not exactly as if Goldman had other people it could have gone to to get wisdom about what high ranking government officials think.

Managing big finance will certainly have overlap. Find it odd that the Chief of Staff for the Treasury Department was a Goldman Sachs lobbyist. You'd hope for something a bit higher up in the ranks of experience.

But what else are we supposed to expect from a socialist like Obama?

We'll have to see which Congress he gets.

You are just delusionally optimistic if you think the US will elect a Congress that will split up the banks.

Find it odd that the Chief of Staff for the Treasury Department was a Goldman Sachs lobbyist.
Goldman Lobbyist = democrat operative in exile during Bush administration.

But I'm sure they hired him because he gave great speeches too.
Honestly, you can never underestimate the power of "free speech". What is odd is that I recall you being for Citizens United, yet seem to have trouble with the consequences of it.

It is highly possible that Bernie will have some coat tails. It is odd but somebody has to break the vice grip the DLC has had on the Democratic Party for years. I do feel we are in a time of changing perceptions and the lid has been removed from the mare's nest we call the congress, revealing the absolute worst form of slime present in great abundance, thanks to folks like Rove and the Koch Bros. The more people learn the actual facts regarding Hillary Clinton the less support she will be getting.

How would he do that? US president doesn't get magical world dictatorial powers.

Then why do you think they're doing it?

If what you're hinting at is that it is an indirect bribe, just say so. If Goldman Sachs are bribing politicians it and the bribed politicians ought to be called out and prosecuted.

But I suppose we could just read the transcripts to become better informed about what gems of wisdom she was dropping that these Goldman Sachs people found so valuable.

Have fun with that.

I mean, not exactly as if Goldman had other people it could have gone to to get wisdom about what high ranking government officials think.

So if it had gone to these other people, wouldn't you then accuse them of being corrupt?

I think it was a transparent attempt to buy influence and favor. I think both sides understood it as such. I'm don't think there was necessarily any direct quid pro quo. In the big leagues they don't exchange enveloped of cash for votes they trade favors.
