Was anyone cheering for Kirk’s death? Before? After? Real question. To me, he was just another right wing nut job capitalizing on (some) people’s fear of progress and modernity. A dime a dozen hack. I realize now that he’s dead, he’s practically a martyred saint ( wrapped around that dime a dozen hack).

This town is a hotbed of trumpsucking conservatives, and I can tell by their big lifted flag-wearing trucks and their shiny assault weapons that they would NEVER indulge in that kind of opining,* although I do overhear stuff around public places. They're almost exclusively male, they gather in gaggles and punctuate their conversations with overly loud affirmations at regular intervals.
Anyhow,
Personally I do not condone violence, and am not violent myself, but I also don't pretend there's no such thing. But in a way, it's not even as bad as the "soft" violence of propagandist incitement that underlies so much of it.

I most definitely would be happy about it if Trump croaked, but only if from obviously non-nefarious causes. The problem is that the vengeance loving faithful WILL find cause for retribution against the Others who (they decide) finally managed to kill him regardless of his actual cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it.
The propagandist incitement will be epic when Trump checks out, no matter what.

On the flip side of that, you ended up with a bunch of conservative people trying to dox anyone gleefully celebrating Kirk's murder. Which... technically isn't as bad as wishing for them to get killed, but not by much in my view.

So they're basically all conservatives running on the edge of rationality, making them targets for uber-magats?
I mean, if it was da libs calling for their killing, I'd would have expected to see guys like that Fuentes nutjob or Trump (please PLEASE don't let it be Trump!) at the top. But hey - I don't claim to know about those things, that's why I'm curious!

I strongly doubt that it's the "flipside" trying to dox anyone gleefully celebrating Kirk's murder... seems to be of a feather, whoever they are.
I have heard it lamented by conservatives I know who are NOT MAGAts, that Joe Rogan, for instance, fears for his life every time he says something that is true, because he has or had at MAGAt following. (I don't do podcasts)
I don't know, but people are saying. Lots of people. The best people.
And J.K. Rowling supposedly identifies as a "left-leaning liberal"... are we recommending killing our most progressive Dems now?
I think we can leave those kind of shenanigans to Republicans, especially those who condone violence themselves.

Protesting fascists doesn't mean you're protesting fascism -- you can always just bundle your fasces into a different enforced ideological monoculture. It's perfectly normal for one set of fascists to oppose a different set of fascists.
