Or if you are friends with someone who does DoorDash driving and can ask them that is fine too.
I have a restaurant that I order from on DoorDash. It is about 15 miles from my home, and the drive is on a major divided highway for most of the trip. The driving time is under 20 minutes. There are typically no hold ups or traffic issues along this route.
My food bill for these orders is about $45 to $50. DoorDash charges me about $3 for delivery on these orders and no service fee (I have a DashPass subscription). I tip between $13 - $15 dollars on this when I place my order, higher when they will likely have to wait due to the restaurant being busy or when the weather is not nice. I also specify that the order can be left on my porch instead of them waiting for me to come to the door.
I do realize that the dasher has to make a round trip for just my order since very few people in my town order from there, and I am wondering if I am tipping sufficiently for their service. I don’t know how much DoorDash pays them for a delivery of this distance and I am worried that I am undertipping.
I never have any issue with not being able to get my orders promptly due to not having a delivery driver accepting them. Mind you, I have no intention of reducing my tip at all. I just want to be sure that the driver is being paid fairly for the miles they have to drive.
Thanks to anyone who can give me some information that will help.
