A Social Contract

Are we supposed to go through and correct these? Granted, no doubt there are plenty of people who think this way.

Correct the meaning? Or correct the spelling of “lose”?
I’m sorry but sometimes it bothers me when people can’t spell a four letter word.

Not at all. I didn't notice the spelling error. By correct, let's just take the first one: "I do not kill because I don't want to live in fear of you." Though that's one reason not to kill, I would suggest it were far better to say, "I don't kill because I place a value on all life, not just my own."

And so on, with equally self-evident changes all down the list.

Hmmm. I’m pretty damn sure it’s not supposed to feel good to cause suffering or death.
I know for a fact it kills a part of me if/when I do that. So I try to keep it to a minimum.
For purely selfish reasons.

Purely selfish? Really? The recognition of the value of others' lives doesn't factor in at all?

"I don't kill because I don't feel like it" Does not cut it as a social contract. That statement is one sided.
It is worded the way it is, in order to imply we both need to follow it. Two sided, like a contract.

Also it is easier to understand/accept selfish motives.

I do not kill, because i am peaceful.
I do not steal, because i am content with what I've got.
I do not lie, because i am honest.
I do not shit anywhere i please, because that is disrespectful.
I will stick my nose in your business, because i care.

Sounds nice, but would you believe/trust that and accept me into your tribe based on those statements alone?
And what do those statements ask from you in return? Nothing. So not a contract, just hype/empty promises.
The posted Social Contract has an implied flip side:
If I'm not safe, neither are you.
If my stuff ain't safe, neither is your's.
If I can't trust what you say, you can't trust me either.
If I have to schlog thgrough your shit, I'll make you eat it.
Etc.
No 'trust' or authority figure needed.

The two basic rules of all human morality are, do not kill your friends and do not steal your friends stuff.

After that, it's just an argument over who is a friend and what is stuff.
