Trump's Appointments

This is our president. :HEADBUTT:

By 2007, no one in the US had ever voted for W. I wish I could say the same for Trump. These people look ready to go down with the ship. I'd rather not be aboard it with them, but don't have much of a choice.

There are plenty of ride or die Trump bitches that say they don't like him but then support all of the Project 2025 moves and defend/rationalize everything, including unconstitutional acts of war, extra-judicial killing of people with no trial and no nothing. They say they don't like Trump but that's just an attempt slight of hand to sane-wash their own personal extremism. They are true ride or die Trump bitches to the end because he hates the same subhuman people they do.

Looks like the new DHS guy wants to screw with customs now.

In his first interview as secretary, Mullin told Fox News that DHS will be taking a closer look at customs enforcement operations at major international airports located in sanctuary jurisdictions, questioning their efficacy.

"If they're a sanctuary city, should they really be processing customs into their city?" Mullin asked.

"If they're a sanctuary city and they're receiving international flights, and we're asking them to partner with us at the airport, but once they walk out of the airport, they're not going to enforce immigration policy — maybe we need to have a really hard look at that."

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) are examples of major customs hubs that DHS could be looking into, as both are located in sanctuary cities. According to Port Authority, roughly 3 million people pass through customs each month at JFK.

Firstly, they aren't asking to partner with them. Customs is Federal. When you cross a border, you deal with a Federal official, not NYPD. Second, it isn't the job of the state to "enforce" Federal immigration policy. At most, they'd be helping with immigration laws, not policy.

Breaking News: Kristi Noem's husband is a cross dresser with a boob fetish.

Huh. I always figured her husband was a Republican.
Just because he is a boob doesn't automatically mean he is a Democrat.
True. But men who dress and act like women are icons of the Democrat party. I assume he will be embraced and welcomed. ;)
That’s a Republican fairy tale. Because current Republicans are so ( outwardly) disgusted by anything than straight, preferably white ‘Christian’ nuclear family headed by a very manly heterosexual male, those who do not neatly fit inside that box/coffin must hide their softer side and inclinations. I truly feel for the guy.

I may be wrong but every cross dressing prominent politician or political spouse I can think of has been GOP.

Ignorance and stupidity truly rule the day.
I hope he’s A25ed real soon.

Per Gemini:
Grindr experienced significant service disruptions in Milwaukee during the July 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC), with reports of over 1,000 outages, leading to speculation of high usage among attendees. The spike in, or "meltdown" of, user activity caused, as described by some, a "Grindr Super Bowl" scenario, often linked to high-density, conservative events. [1, 2, 3]
Key details regarding the incident:
  • Location & Timing: The app faced heavy traffic and outages in the Milwaukee area during the RNC, according to Downdetector data.
  • User Traffic: The high volume was likely driven by an influx of people, including visitors and law enforcement, not exclusively conventioneers.
    • Context: Some users and social media commentators speculated the surge was due to closeted attendees, though this is often discussed as a meme or joke.
    • Previous Instances: Similar, unverified, or localized reports of outages occurred at previous conservative gatherings, such as the Charlie Kirk Memorial in Arizona, leading to similar speculation.

This thread should be renamed "Trump's Disappointments".

The root cause is plain to see. Trump has taken the "It's who you know" hiring strategy to its absurd limit. Trump got his fill of qualified subordinates in his first term. He discovered that qualified people with the needed experience were reluctant to go to prison. This was a real obstacle to putting his policies into effect.

This wouldn't a limit for Trump2.0. He has assembled an elite team of idiots, conmen, drunks, and raving lunatics. It is truly bizarre to see men who have managed multibillion dollar investment funds go camera and explain that foreign countries pay the tariffs, not the end consumer, and they say it with a smile.

Even more bizarre are the women he has hired. They act like freshmen coeds set loose at the mall with Daddy's credit cards, but have private lives more complicated than a five time divorced manager of a mobile home park.

The origin of this circus of fools goes back to the first term when Jared Kushner could not get an FBI security clearance because of his ties to too many shady Middle Eastern figures. This was a real problem for Trump, because Jared's shady connections was the only reason to have him in the Whitehouse. The solution was to outsource the background checks to a private firm. Of course this was just a cover story. There was no private firm and no checks. This wasn't so bad when Trump had to deal with GOP professionals, but Trump determined to never be burdened with that crowd again. Now we have cabinet members who take bribes across the table of fast-casual restaurants and law enforcement officers whose training consists of Walker Texas Ranger and TJ Hooker reruns.

There will be a lot of tell all books about the Trump2.0 years, but few by cabinet secretaries. It's difficult to write a memoire when most of your memories are blacked out and what you do recall is someone hammering on the door of your hotel room in the morning.

The juxtaposition of 'elite team' with the list of knaves and bounders mentioned was well done.

Idiot.
What's common sense is to take every precaution to ensure readiness of your armed forces.
What's common sense is to take every precaution when cramming hundreds of people into a tin can and sending them out to sea.
This moron is just inviting divisiveness within the armed forces by creating another marker that divides the troops.
Wait'll half the crew is standing twice as many watches because the other half are sick in quarters.
Idiot.

The Spanish Flu hit the military very hard during WWI, right?

CDC chief Jay Bhattacharya has cancelled the publication of its own staff scientists because it shows that the Covid-19 vaccine was effective last year at preventing severe sicknesses

The approach employed in this research has been used for years by scientists at the C.D.C. and elsewhere to gauge the real-world performance of flu and Covid vaccines, said Dr. Fiona Havers, a vaccine expert who resigned from the agency in June.

“It is really surprising that Jay Bhattacharya is now having issues with this methodology, since it has been a well-accepted standard for a long time,” she said.

It's not the methodology as the CDC claimed. It's that the vaccine was found to be effective.
