Should a liberal Democrat vote for Rand Paul? Here's one who says, "yes."

I wasn't born in the sixties. I went to college in the sixties. That is what I mean by being a child of the sixties.

Congratulations.

Now, can you please explain why Rand Paul's pro-life,
Because regulating uteruses makes us more free. You want to be free, don't you? We need to get Big Government off our backs by regulating uteruses! If you don't want uteruses regulated, then that means you are a statist who hates freedom.

anti-Civil Rights Act
Civil rights is just code words for "persecuting white people." Why are you so prejudiced?

and anti-social safety net
"Social safety net" is just code for "socialist dictatorship." Did you miss the part where communism failed? I can send you links to old newspaper articles if you think it will help.

Look, why are you so surprised that we actually found one liberal who wants freedom? Is it really so surprising? Why do you want us all to be less free?

;) :cheeky:

Rand Paul would probably have been quite popular in the sixties.

Barry Goldwater was quite popular in the sixties among certain people. Need I remind you that you're arguing for the proposition that Rand Paul is a better choice for liberal democrats in 2016? You seem to have forgotten this fact.

Women's rights didn't start until later and was more of an upper class movement.

I'm pretty certain that the whole women's rights movement began long before Rand Paul was born.

Rand Paul did not oppose the Civil Rights Act.

He has stated that he feels it is the right of businesses to discriminate upon the basis of race. This is in direct opposition to the Civil Rights Act.

His call for sentencing reform of marijuana laws would have been hugely popular among the flower children and among blacks and would have been seen as a scandalous proposal on the right.

So the man likes his weed. That's a libertarian position, not a liberal one.

You're really grasping at straws here, Bill.

Oh yeah. I forgot the big one. He is anti-war! That would have been hugely popular.

Barry Goldwater had his cult following but he lost the popular vote by the largest margin history. Goldwater was a war-monger. He was a Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve. He did not share the views of modern-day libertarians.

That's really the only thing you've got, Bill.

Rand Paul is anti-war.

All you hippies gather 'round and light up a spliff because Rand Paul is your guy! He likes weed and is anti war! Never mind that he stands against all your liberal social stuff...he's a stoner!

Except for the fact that he's very much pro-war when it comes to ISIL.

I was not a hippie, and I hate marijuana.

Of course you weren't, and of course you do. You're also pretty obviously not a liberal. As such you really aren't in a position to give political advice to anti-war, dope smoking liberal hippies as you clearly don't understand them or their needs.

The folks trying to sell Rand Paul to liberals are like square record companies in the 50s selling Pat Boone cover versions of Little Richard songs and pretending it's real rock & roll.
