Those circumstances did not seem to be something like 'she didn't know about the rock, was later told about it, and then refused for remove it'.

So when he called it a rock of unknown origin, he didn't mean to imply its origin were unknown?

Of course he said and meant to say that the origin is unknown. Of course, what is unknown to a person may well be known to another person.
Do you actually think he claimed or implied that the rock's origin was unknown to the mother?

As far as I can tell, it's pretty clear he was not making such claim.

That's pretty common in all these threads. They're for the most part fights, not discussions, and generally people vastly misunderstand and as a result misrepresent their opponents's words.
