Canadian Icon and Over-rated Hockey Idol Don Cherry is Relieved of Duty

Because they made spearing a serious penalty once it was decide spearing shouldn't be a thing in hockey.

And yet fighting isn't? Checking somebody into the boards is part of the game, but why should punching somebody not be considered assault?

This is a classic law school question. The answer is to argue that it is "part of the game", expected and normal. Same reason a boxer can't be charged or sued for assault for punching.

But why on earth should punching somebody be ok in hockey?

They tried that and it led to some pretty chippy cheap shots. Bench clearing brawls were ended in the mid to late 80s.

What I don't understand is why Hockey gets burdened with answering why are there fights... when baseball involves minimal punishments for intentionally beaning players because the pitcher was mad he gave up a homerun... and the brawls that then ensue after that.

"You disagree with us, you're fired!" Very fascistic. Pretty sure Hitler had the same policy.

Pretty sick stuff. This is anti-freedom.
The issue is that it is very doubtful that every white person had a poppy. Nor did every one of "those people' not have one. So he was just ragging on minorities... during the intermission broadcast of a Hockey Game.

And if he had said something like, "I'm not really fond of Christians," his job would still be safe.

Welcome to the tolerant age of progressivism, folks!

Very likely. Canada is notorious for hating Christians. Heck, they burn Christian churches every Christmas as a warning to Christians to not build churches.

Funny.

But you know damn well how it is.

If I go on TV in America and make fun of Christians, people laugh. If I go on TV and make fun of Muslims, people clench their teeth and call for your firing.

This double standard needs to stop!

You’ve been fired for making fun of Muslims on TV?

You know what I mean.

Another case in point. Late night hosts make fun of Donald Trump so much that it's stale beyond belief. Do they ever make fun of Bernie Sanders? Nope. No digs at him for his love of communism and vacation in Russia. No digs at him for how he wants to turn America into Venezuela. Just constant trump hatred.

Fighting is not "ok" in hockey - fighters get penalties.

Basically, it is pretty hard to get a good punch in hockey because one is standing on skates on ice.
