AOC Inspires Man To Run False Facebook Ads Testing Mark Zuckerberg | NowThis - YouTube

Including someone's fake ad that implies that Republican Senator Lindsey Graham supports AOC's Green New Deal. Also mentioned a possible fake ad saying that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell supports impeaching President Trump.

Inspired by how AOC asked MZ about running political ads that have deliberate falsehoods. MZ didn't seem to have much of a clue.

ooh, poor baby snowflake got triggered by fake ads!1@1
It partly demonstrates the issues with policing political ads.

It is hard enough to police the truth in politics, which really is near impossible. Thanks to technology, 'deep fakes' will be easily within the grasp of people that want to put stuff in political ads streaming to Facebook users, showing politicians saying things they never said. In the run up to the 2020 election, people could easily use technology to show Trump telling the Russians that firing Comey was good for him politically or telling an interviewer a while ago he like gawking at half naked teens at his pageant or grabbing women by the pussy or even suggesting a quid pro quo with the Ukrainian President...

...admittedly, these aren't good examples of faking politically libelous messages, but this is the future and Facebook (and Social Media in general) have no means to combat it.

I am a big supporter of data poisoning... when data is the commodity.

I promote the idea of flooding facebook with useless information, and bombarding facebook users with obvious nonsense that creates an expectation of complete baloney across the user base... in other words, demonetize facebook. make ads worthless.

How do you make ads worthless? You pay Facebook to show ads.

I like this idea. Get enough fake adds out there and people will stop believing adds generally and then you won't be able to buy elections as easily.

We'll solve the problem of lies, with more lies, and enriching Facebook with even more money! It is a brilliant strategy, as long as no one stops to think about it.

How do you hobble someone tuned to bullshit with bullshit? For the most part my experience with readers on Facebook is that of the persons seen on Kimmel believing his interviewer's false statements.

Well, it's not to hobble the readers, it's to make the bullshitter's message lost among all the other bullshit.
If the ads say that McConnell supports Trump, and supports AOC, and supports Wakanda for Wakandans, and is going to tax gun owners in order to use tax money to support the NRA, and endorses diapers for mounted police horses, and supports taking guns from anyone who isn't a veteran, and converted to Judaism, and turned his wife in for tax evasion, and founded a charity for families separated at the border, and wants to hire illegal aliens to build The Wall, and wants to bring back slavery....

If you can't legislate brilliance, hobble 'em with bullshit?

ya, pretty much... If Facebook will not police their ads, then poison their ads so they no longer have value and "real" advertisers go elsewhere. Make it so that if you see it on facebook, then you KNOW it's fake or a lie. That should impact ad revenue sufficiently to affect change.

Even the most insane Facebook user will begin to doubt the information they are getting when it becomes 80% "lizard people are trying to make our flat earth round so god can't send the savior home". I don't think they will have the time or energy to sort through it.

This thought is not about changing facebook USERS minds... it's about demonetizing Facebook into financial ruin, and simply getting rid of it - or influencing them to make a major change in their philosophy of accountability.

So you plan on reducing Facebook ad revenue by flooding Facebook with revenue from fake ads?

I also support the concept, but unless Mikey Bloomberg wants to spend about 52 of his 53 billion dollars on nonsense facebook ads, I don't see how it's going to work.

Only for a few months, if it's done right. :)
