Clinton now leads Trump by 51 percent to 45 percent, a dramatically more competitive race than July's 56-40 spread and June's 59-35, the poll results showed.
So it looks like Clinton's lead over Trump has narrowed to 6 points. Now 6 points in a Federal Election is actually a decent size win, but it is certainly not a comfortable lead. Yes, it is still 15 months off, but what this seems to tell me is that the right-wing is getting a little more comfortable with Trump. Clinton has likely suffered from more disclosures on the email situation.

Trump registered gains among Republicans and Republican-leading (leaning?) independents, whose support surged from 67 percent in July to 79 percent now; men (from 46 percent in July to 53 percent now); and white voters (from 50 percent to 55 percent).
What the fuck is a Republican leaning independent? I view an independent has to be pretty far from a Republican, that leaning is impossible. And how can an Republican leaning independent be allured to Trump with statements about Megan Kelly's menstruation or nuking the Middle East. Everything about Trump is extreme, nothing moderate at all!

The greatest oddity in all of this is that Trump is the closest to Clinton now. No other Republican candidate is closer to her. Fiorina apparently is just 10 points behind her now because.... ??? Clinton has a 9 pt lead on Bush and Walker. Trump appears to be galvanizing his candidacy. It appears that maybe he wasn't taken seriously, but now the toddler Republican base is all-in with Trump, the Independents are maybe not liking him more, but taking his candiancy more seriously and saying they'd go for him.

OMFG! Having Trump become the actual candidate would be better than snorting coke off the naked ass of a Miss Universe contestant while flying to a private Carribbean island in a Lear jet (or what Trump calls "Tuesday").

His appeal is, of course, going to burn out long before that but we can dare to dream of that awesomeness.

I don't think some people appreciate how many insane right-wingers there are in this nation.

Has anyone listened to AM radio?

They eat Trump up like candy.

Best (and safest) scenario is the RNC screws him in Cleveland, then he runs Indy.

We are still more than a year out. Nobody is really paying attention.

He speaks the truth!

It is surreal!

No, it won't.

Holy shit, I hope you are right, dude. I hope you are right.

Colbert was saying the other day that he hopes the guy lasts long enough for him to start on the Tonight Show because he doesn't want to miss this opportunity. I'm with him. It would be great to have him continue as long as possible.

This is the trouble. Look at what the nomination of Sarah Palin did to this country. It created the Tea Party, which is now perpetuating the Trump candidacy. It seems funny, but it is driving some rather ugly forces in US politics that are having a real and negative consequence on our nation. Laugh all you want, we are your number one trading partner and if things go south here, you'll be feeling it too.

Trump isn't going to actually win. Not even Americans are that dumb and I have absolutely no respect for the intellectual capacity of your countrymen.

His candidacy is a funny thing that isn't going to cause any lasting damage.

I think it's a stretch to say Palin's nomination created the Tea Party.

That said, Trump is certainly riding high off the Tea Party sentiment. He's gonna go "fix Washington" and "make America great again" and he's going to do it all by rounding up the illegal immigrants and being a dick to uppity women and foreigners.

This resonates with the angry old white people who festooned their hats with tea bags and got suckered by billionaire-backed political hacks. Now they're essentially eliminating the middle man and cheering for the billionaire directly.

It is going to get ugly, I'm sure. When the other, much richer billionaires push back, and the old guard Republicans realize (as they failed to with the Tea Party) that the rug is being pulled out from under them, Trump is gonna meet real resistance.

You don't get it. Palin didn't win either, but her nomination launched this absurd Tea Party movement and has helped galvanize Trump's candidacy. His candidacy isn't occurring in a vacuum. It is widening a void between reality and a good chunk of the right-wing. This is bad for our country. Totalitarian governments form this way. Ending Trump now at least puts a pause in this.

What is getting to the point of unbelievable isn't that Trump mocked Kelly's menstruation, but that he could say that and have his polling numbers increase!

Ford's right: Palin didn't create the Tea Party. She's a creation of the Tea Party that already pre-existed her. The Tea Party formed as a reaction against the big Wall Street bailouts.

She was whom they were trying to please. They did it so well, that group itself galvanized. And then we had the "protests" against Obama and his tyranny.
The Tea Party formed as a reaction against the big Wall Street bailouts.
Bullshit. They formed out of a Democrat winning the election.
