Just a few numbers about lawns.
63,000 sq mi. About the size of Geogia.
Only 2% of natural prairies remain.
Only 35% of original butterflies remain.
50% of birds are gone.
Millions of tons of pesticides and herbicides are used to maintain this monoculture.
Gas lawn mowers put out a lot of pollution.
tRump loves golf. Need I say more?

There are zero natural prairies in my lawn; I spray each spring for Bindi, Clover and Prairie.

I usually enjoy hot weather, but the temps have been about 8 to 12 degrees F above average over the past two weeks and it's starting to become annoying. 97 yesterday and 94 today. It will cool down a bit for several days but the forecast says we'll be back in the 90s next week.

Anyone who denies the climate change that we are experiencing now is due to human activity is an idiot. Sadly, Idiocracy seems to be here and dear leader is the chief idiot. That movie, "Idiocracy" now seems like a documentary.

What is happening now is local weather.
What has been happening and is predicted to happen is local climate.
You keep mentioning “it’s a lovely 74 degrees in Santa Monica”, as if your personal space weighs more heavily on the asserted fact of global climate change, than the sum of all the other quadrillions of data points required to develop any useful picture of global climate.

Apparently you not take seriously global reporting from counties around the world seriously, and the global science concensus.

Once you acknowledge a phenomena like the Pineapple Express affecting California form Hawaii due to higher ocean temperatures your facade e begins to crumble.

Your repeated use of the word catastrophe claiming all climate science is ranting a looming catastrophe is itself hyperbole and culttlike.

The anti climate change group is a cult.

What culminate scientists are doing is modeling climate using established science and actual data, predicting how the future may look.

Long tern predictions are drought and reduced food and water supplies. Here in the USA agriculture and water supplies are affected by global warming.

If you live in La area take a look at hte satte of regional water suplie sand future predilections.

Yes some politicians and others got over excited, but that is not sober climate science based in established science and observable measured data,
The basic principle;es used to model and predict local wearer are the same principles used to model and predict climate change.

All natural climate cycles have been eliminated. What is left is adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere and applying basic science.

Spence is very competitive, even cut throat. If there was any major flaws in the climate models somebody would have found it.

As to a catastrophe it all depends ohow you look at it. No one is predicting an apocalyptic near term doom.

Right now it is catastrophic island and coastal dwellers. Another degree in global temperature could reduce e production. glovbl staple.

A lot of things are adding up to a mjor change in human civilization.

Wonky data? Weak at best. To you wonky, to those who know and use science it is rather routine. As an engineer I applied science for a living. I am, about as skeptical of any science claims as one can be. I always look at it criticality.

The measured fact that the Earth is warming and sea is rising is a simple objective fact. Not 'wonky'. If not human pollution as the cause, hten what is the natural cause?

There is nothing new, unusual, or arcane to climate science.

You have not offered any refutation of climate science.

Right now it is not about future predictions, It is about how global warming is affecting us right now.

Again, you must not be watching national and global reporting.

To you adding 1 + 1 is probably 'wonky'.

Being dismissive and opinionated not change the observable facts.

My belief that climate science is correct on cellmate change comes form experience whit and know deg of silence, and knowing how science works.

No. Weather is short term. Almost no hikes were scheduled yesterday because the chance of rain was high. But these days the summer just gets too hot for me to enjoy hiking. That is climate.

The sky isn't going to fall. The Earth isn't going to burn up.

But that doesn't mean we aren't in for some very bad times. We are already seeing tens of thousands of heat deaths as normal occurrences. (Note that most are not reported as such--they're typically the straw that broke the camel's back, taking out those with other health issues. And even a direct heat kill usually shows up as dehydration.)

You don't need to trust their data modeling to see the basic patterns. The models are very useful for predicting how bad things will get, you don't need them to see what's already happened.

And you don't need to look at any model in order to understand this:

The danger this graph shows is completely independent of any climate model. It's simply energy in and energy out, not why it behaves the way it does. (And in practice you need the red line slightly above the black line as we have some geothermal heating.) Sure, it's only 0.6% of the total energy but it adds up.

That was my earlier point. The weather isn't normal. It's related to climate change. September has been above normal here in Georgia everyday. We were only 1 degree above normal yesterday but last week, the temps were as much as 12 degrees above normal. Next week we are headed back to the 90s and the humidity is making it deadly for anyone outdoors too long, especially those who work outdoors. It was over 100 degrees in NYC for a few days in June and in the mid 90s in Indy last week. This is all weather related to climate change.

Plus, I read we have just passed the 1.5 degree C that was part of what the Paris Climate Agreement was trying to avoid. Only someone ignorant regarding climate change doesn't understand how dire that 1.5 degree C means to the world.
