Who did it better?

Abba v The Nutty Boys

Decent effort from Madness but Abba are unbeatable.

Black Pumas v The Beatles

At first listen of Black Pumas I was like oh dear. But if you listen to just a couple of times it's actually very, very good and they did a fantastic job of making it their own. I'm going to give the win to The Beatles but Black Pumas have come very, very close, almost a tie. Almost.

A Beatles song, With a Little Help From My Friends. A rare occasion where Ringo is lead vocal.

An iconic performance from Joe Cocker performing at Woodstock.

And Scottish band Wet Wet Wet

The original Beatles version is a fairly simple arrangement whereas Joe Cocker goes balls to the wall and totally creates a different, almost unrecognizable piece of music. The Wet Wet Wet version is a rather bland poppy version.

Joe Cocker for the win!

Piece of something, anyhow.
I disliked his “rendition” intensely at first listen. My opinion has softened over the years, but I still don’t like it.
One of his many girlfriends owed me money and never made good, and that may have influenced my dislike at the time. But mostly I felt like he disrespected the structure. Parts-ed it out for his own build, so to speak. He could have done that to anything, so why that? I still think George Martin’s “simplicity” is more inventive and less simple than most listeners appreciate.

I never posted up With A Little Help From My Friends? Must be because it is so blatantly obvious a deaf person would make the right choice just based on the Cocker video alone. One of my favorite performances.

Indeed you did, my bad. :(
Whew. So I'm not losing it.
person, woman, man, camera, TV
Yep. Still got it.
