California Doing California Things

The 4th largest economy in the world

California is one of 23 states suing President Donald Trump’s administration trying to force it to use emergency money to cover food benefits for millions of poor families during the federal government shutdown, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta said Tuesday. More than five million Californians rely on the program each month, known in California as CalFresh, nationally as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and colloquially as food stamps. The federally-funded benefits amount to about $1 billion delivered to Californians’ electronic benefits cards each month to spend on groceries

News

California, highest unemployment, highest poverty, highest tax, highest gas prices, highest energy prices in the country.
So, what? You think California is bad because it cares for its poor citizens, while Trump is trying to starve them? You got a funny sense of who's the hero and who's the villain in this situation.

So, what?
So what if the 4th largest economy in the world has 3 million people reliant on food handouts, the highest poverty rate, highest unemployment, highest tax etc.?

You think California is bad because it cares for its poor citizens,
I think California is bad because the state government and the governor are corrupt. Although Newsom really is the dumbest of the dumb. And he’s delusional a liar and bonkers. Period, full stop.

Because he wants poorer citizens to have grocery assistance?

So you posted a news story, but don't want us to read or think about it? The governor is trying to get food into family's homes. Your thug of a president is trying to prevent him from doing so. Does that really seem right to you? Starving kids for the sake of political theater?

Trump is sitting on $5 billion dollars of funds meant for exactly a situation like this, but he's refusing to use it. He wants children to die so he can go "wah, wah, look what those evil democrats made me do", but the whole time he's holding do a bag of cash that he is legally required to use to help and refusing to do. And you're cheering it all on. You people make me sick, honestly. These are your neighbors for god's sake! Most of them are Republicans. Doesn't that, at least, mean something to you?

So this is exactly what a nation or state should do with its revenue, take care of those who need taking care of. What should it do, make the lives of those who are already making it economically even easier? Does that seem like the right thing to do? Are you going to make it okay under your current financial burden, Santa Monica? Can the state focus on those who are not?
The absence of federal aid will just exacerbate the problem.

So now the states want to use a federal contingency fund to make up the difference but the Trump administration argues the contingency fund is for disasters. So I guess the court will have to decide if people suffering at the hands of its own president is to be considered a disaster.
