The political forums are so down and dark, I thought it would be nice to bring up something uplifting and cheerful. 😊

I think the below is an accurate prediction. I just want to live to see the day.

Conservative strategist and co-founder of the Lincoln Project Rick Wilson laid out what a post-Trump world may look like, and what revelations would follow, in a column published Wednesday.

“When Donald Trump dies, the myth will begin to decay almost instantly; his cult will keep the flame alive for a while, but the records will outlive the rally faithful,” Wilson wrote on his Substack “Against All Enemies."

History will not remember him as a king, or a savior. History will remember him as a small, ugly, sick man who happened to seize great power, who wielded it recklessly, and who left behind a trail of destruction, corruption and cowardice unmatched in American history.

Sticking with Trump’s health, Wilson predicted that following Trump’s passing, a trove of documents related to his physical and mental condition would be unearthed, documents that would reveal that his “cardiac and mental decline was charted in careful, hidden memos.”

Wilson also anticipated that revelations around the president’s ties with Jeffrey Epstein – the convicted sex offender who died in 2019 awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges – would come to light, and made several startling predictions about who in Trump’s cabinet may be held to account for potentially covering up those ties.

“Epstein’s web of power, blackmail, and sexual exploitation reached deep into America’s elite, and we’ll learn Trump was in the thick of it,” Wilson wrote. “The [Justice Department’s] illegal Epstein coverup and corrupt pardon of Ghislaine Maxwell will unravel, and by the end, [Attorney General] Pam Bondi, [Deputy Attorney General] Todd Blanche, [FBI Director] Kash Patel, and [FBI Deputy Director] Dan Bongino will be in prison.”

Details on Trump’s business dealings, many of which have enriched the president to the tune of billions of dollars, would also be laid to bare following his passing, Wilson noted, details that he argued history would not look well upon.

“The Trumpcoin scams, the garbage social media platform, the grifty deals with foreign powers, the bribes for pardons…all of it will be seen for what it is; a criminal enterprise, a mobster bustout of an entire nation,” Wilson wrote.

“History will learn about the shell companies, the overseas accounts, the backroom deals where American policy was auctioned off like a Mar-a-Lago dinner table.”

Ultimately, Wilson argued that through the wave of revelations following the president’s passing, a clear picture of Trump would be painted: that of someone whose “only interest was control.”

Okay. You feel better now, right?

Far too many right wingers have begun to emulate Trump's bully boy tactics, his extreme pugnaciousness, plus (more alarmingly) the refusal to concede an election loss. There will be stylistic differences -- I can't believe there will be lots of politicians who are as devoted to name calling as Trump, or as into public cursing -- but clearly he has mapped out a route to success with the nutty Republican base. And let us not forget the scare-mongering around immigrants, which is the white hot core of the Trump movement. Vance quickly picked up on that theme and maligned citizens of his own state. Trump is a mighty big wave riding on a large and forbidding undercurrent. Yes, he's small, sick and ugly (not to leave out racist and traitorous and a goddamned liar) but he won the popular vote 11 months ago, so all those qualities were accepted by a majority of those who came out to vote.
(And try to imagine what year in the future it will be when our NATO "allies" and our neighbor -- the one that's 44 miles north of me, across Lake Erie -- or perhaps Lake America, if some crazed old man decides it -- will trust us again.)

I don’t think it translates well. Try imagining the sectional predator telling everyone he knows more than anyone ever did, about everything. I don’t think it will flush.

Okay. You feel better now, right?

No. From the outset, you just made me think of that flaming hemorrhoid Vance. Years from now thirty-somethings will think back to the Trump years and chuckle despairingly at how easy life was back in the day. They'll remember when Supreme Court justices had law degrees. They'll remember when people didn't live in fear of the NSA or weren't even quite sure what they did. This disease does not die with Trump. It resides with the Republican Party.

“When Donald Trump dies, the myth will begin to decay almost instantly; his cult will keep the flame alive for a while, but the records will outlive the rally faithful,”
I doubt that is true.
Trump is a useful idiot for the Deep State and Christian Dominionists. Trump's death would be a great excuse to lie and hire more masked thugs with no culpability to do their bidding. To further trash American values for the purposes of the rich Christian elite.

But the best thing that could happen for the elitists trying to take over the USA is Trump becoming a martyr. It won't matter what his actual cause of death is, what will matter is that the Deep State and Christian Dominionists can claim anything they want.

I think that sounds good on paper, especially to the opportunist vultures that are already circling the soon-to-be-carcass.
But I don’t think any of them has the charisma or ability to lie in the face of facts.
I heard of Trump in the early 80s. He was building his image then. The Apprentice gave him the next level media exposure to leverage his well practiced egotism into the cardboard cutout image of confidence that persists today.
I’d need names and faces to believe that MAGA world would just shift its allegiance to Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Shady Vance or any other name I know. Most of them have pre-disqualified themselves by being overtly obsequious to Trump, and none have marketable bombastic bullshit at the ready, like Trump does.

They've managed to convince millions of Americans that it's the Democrats that shut down the government and won't allow SNAP payments. That ICE agents are protecting American citizens. That Trump's tariffs will be paid by foreigners.

It's hard to believe that US citizens are stupid enough to believe that crap, but you and I both know that they are.

No, not really, because I’m still wondering if it should be “IF Trump dies”. He reminds me of my in-laws, who’ve had one foot on the banana peel for years.

I think rather there's going to be an AI replication of Trump, that will last a good year or three more before something happens to depose it.

Unfortunately, I think the OP is too optimistic. Hopefully I am wrong. But the ones in power will read what Rick Wilson has said, and take measures to cover up those records. Then again there may be those who have copied various documents so that in future they can use them to get a deal, or for blackmail purposes. Because these people are all out for themselves, and self protection is a high priority for them.

Christian Dominionists. Trump's death would be a great excuse to lie and hire more masked thugs with no culpability to do their bidding.
Do you REALLY think the thugs will feel just as comfortable following an illegal order from Stephen Miller as from Trump?

I suspect that Trump dies, someone tries to pick up the reins and they get picked off by some Republican gunner who considers them an unacceptable imposter. It will take about ten years before virtually everyone denies ever having supported him, but that day will come too.
OTOH maybe the Apricot just continues to rot away for another 20 years in power. In that case, too bad America. It was a nice idea, but there’s a good reason we can’t have nice things.

If.

Ron DeSantis comes to mind. He's made the whole state of Florida into a sort of mini-Iran.
By clinging to Trump’s coattails, yeah.
Well, yeah. The perpetuation of style, hysteria, and demonization. Doesn't that tend to undercut the OP's optimism?
I don’t think so. It’s imitation, not the real thing. Trump really has convinced himself that he is smarter and better and more deserving of power and wealth than anyone else. The fragility of his ego demands it. He is a true card carrying psychopath who has never suffered an egalitarian thought or an unselfish idea. That is hard to imitate once the model is gone.
Puddin’ fingers is never going to win a National election, and will be easily deposed if he tries to do to the Nation what he has done to Fl. I still don’t see a full grown Hitler in anyone else in the picture.

Well said. Appalling, really, how many Repubs condemned him in 2015 and early 2016 and then became outrageous toadies. The history of this era will be an unending chronicle of corruption, lies, and illegality, carried out by a party with no integrity whatsoever.
