Victim of false rape allegation murdered

Yeah, I'd say that job is for prosecutors and the police.

Damn, the whole scene those people were in sounds like a total drug fueled train wreck. I really don't know how this relates to people who are not living a totally fucked up life. Sad.

I thought of the Hitchcock Presents episode called "Revenge". It is very good, but in the current climate of being overly delicate about possible false/inaccurate/"not the right guy" rape allegations it might be looked upon very poorly.

I don't want to let her off the hook for a false rape allegation, but that guy is a huge monster and may have killed/assaulted her if she told the truth. I'm torn.

Methheads are not the only ones making false rape allegations. Jackie Coakley of UVA wasn't a methhead for example.

And rightly so. Except in feminist circles where they deny that false rape allegations are a big deal.

She should be prosecuted for the false rape allegation itself but her responsibility is more serious than that as she participated in the murder itself.

It doesn't matter if she would have been hurt for telling the truth--framing an innocent isn't acceptable. Furthermore, she threatened someone with a knife to get him to back up her story, I think this falls under felony murder.

Yes, she made a false rape claim to her boyfriend, and then to police. Her boyfriend ALSO made the false rape claim to police to justify why he murdered the man. One of the other two witnesses ALSO backed up the false rape claim initially. How come we are only talking about prosecuting the woman for that part? (and Derec framing this discussion as yet another rant against "feminists")

I think the "false rape claim" is such a minor short-lived part of this story, and since both people are being charged with murder and assault I'm not seeing too much to be outraged about.

I say both perps should be locked up for life.
Charges: Fairbanks man was killed after false rape accusation
This highlights the danger of the demand by feminists that rape "victims" should be automatically believed.
What the fuck are you talking about? One thing has nothing to do with the other.

Vengeance is not legal nor should it be condoned. Isn't there some echo chamber where you can spout on about your hobby horse?

Refreshing to see Derec post this thread, and see neither him generalize it to every rape claim, or his ractionaries try to justify this one or dismiss it as insignificant.

The boyfriend believed it.

The "witnesses" did so out of fear.

False rape is at the heart of this--in one of it's standard forms. She was trying to cover up the fact that she engaged in consensual sex and thus claimed rape.

Things got totally out of hand but she was the trigger and could have stopped it at any time.

Sounds to me like things would have gotten totally out of hand regardless. Apparently the boyfriend had a violent temper, and would have acted on that either way. I don't condone what the girlfriend did (she sounds as psychotic as he does) but she says she made the initial claim out of fear of him. If you are going to excuse the second person for backing up the claim out of fear, why are you not excusing her for the same reason?

I don't excuse either of them or the boyfriend who, by the time the police arrived, knew he was lying about the alleged rape.

It doesn't surprise me that all the same people are here posting for her blood - but only her blood. Three people made the false claim to the police. Charge all of them for the false report, or none of them. In the meantime, boyfriend and girlfriend are both being charged with the assault and murder.

Acting out of fear when she caused the situation herself doesn't get her any slack in my book. Felony murder for her, second degree murder for him.

You think he should get a lesser charge than her, even though he is the one who actually committed the murder?

Holy hell your bias is showing.

I totally agree with charging them both the same, and never suggesting cutting her any slack, but HE committed the actual murder.

I do have to say that I find it very interesting that you continue to defend Zimmerman, insisting that none of his actions leading up to the deadly altercation matters, but here you want to put more of the blame on her because she set the events in motion. Your hypocrisy is mind-boggling.

She committed at least one felony, a person died as a result. The felony murder rule should apply, she gets murder one. It's not just her starting things in motion (for which she would only get manslaughter), but then going and threatening witnesses. It's that threatening that brings the felony murder charge.

He acted in the heat of the moment (thinking his girl was raped), that's second degree murder.
