Thought this deserved its own thread. My guess is that Biden has made an offer to Warren, but it was for State, not VP (which is why she hasn’t endorsed yet). With Cuomo’s rise due to the Trump virus, he may now be a viable option.

Then there is Sanders. Biden’s camp is no-doubt throwing that into the ring. Whether Biden would agree with the strategy or not remains to be seen, but we know that Sanders would agree if asked, because he’s a fraud.

That leaves a relatively unknown, which didn’t fare all that well for HRC, so they would be considering that in their strategy as well.

Here’s the list evidently circulating among professional pundits. The article notes that Biden promised in a debate that it would be a woman, but of course such promises mean nothing and are easily undone, such as with Cuomo’s surprising dark horse rise due to the Trump virus being more than sufficient to point to as justification.

Thoughts? Who will he pick? Who should he pick?

Cuomo isn't a viable option. There is the Coronavirus response that'll be on going for several more months. This is a bad year for Governor VP candidates.

Sanders is too darn old. And the references to Grumpy Old Men will get tiring after a while.

Sen. Harris is probably a top the list. There is Stacey Abrams too. She lacks as much experience as Harris which will be an issue due to Methuselah's age, but on the other hand, Abrams provides a potential Georgia turnout hit that might put two seats in the Senate into the competitive category. Michigan's governor is a rising star, but again... Epidemic. This takes up across the lakes to Sen. Klobuchar. She provides the midwest flavor and claws into Iowa and Wisconsin.

Katie Porter - not on that list?
Lots of good people to choose from.

Easily addressed and incorporated into the strategy. VPs aren’t really necessary until the last three months in the lead up at best and with Cuomo continuing to lead as he is currently doing, the Biden camp can simply use the footage of him to their advantage. There won’t be any visiting states or public rallies (except for Trump, of course, thereby killing more of his idiots), so it’s ALL going to be a remote campaign for at least the next three months regardless.

Sanders is too darn old.

True, but in a harmless, useless position like VP, Biden’s team can finally put his bullshit to good use and placate all the magical thinker cult members Sanders has fooled.

And the references to Grumpy Old Men will get tiring after a while.

Except that this entire country—thanks in no small part to the Trump virus, but also Trump himself—IS a grumpy old man, collectively, so I see that as working in their favor, not against. It can be taken out in one speech, where they lean into it and give an extensive reason why we are all “grumpy old men” thanks to Trump’s incompetence, corruption, etc.

I can see Klobuchar over Harris, but I doubt he’d go with Abrams. But that’s only if he is bypassing Warren. Warren is the strongest female choice for optics (i.e., countering the GOP’s lame “creepy Joe” strategy) and Dem voter appeal, but not among Independent swing, so that could be a strong factor in why Biden hasn’t already offered her VP.

OFFS, no Warren! It is bad enough the main candidate is older than a Boomer! We don't need a Boomer on the ticket for any balance. While Warren excites some demographics, I don't think it is enough. But I've been disappointed with most things in 2020, so it'll likely be Warren.

IMO, it will be Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Like Biden she's against single payer healthcare.

Yeah, anybody but a woman. Totally got that driven into my head and the marrow of my bones and the core of my being. Electing a woman to an office where she could potentially be POTUS is absolutely unthinkable. Every single woman in America hears that loud and clear. Every damn day of our lives.

Totally got that. Over and over and over and over and over again, since I was born and my mother and grandmother and great grandmother before me.

And OMG: FFS no BOOMERS!

Totally understand that as well. Nobody likes their parents. We're just here in case you need rent money or something.

Why should I care? I'll be dead soon enough anyway.

Care to explain how you got "anybody but a woman" out of that, especially when Biden has already said he's going to choose a woman?

I think it will be Klobuchar. There's been photographs of her and Biden taken together in the last couple days.

Warren's Senate seat is too valuable to give up to a Republican, so I'd prefer that she stays in that job. If Mass. elects a Democratic governor, she can join the administration in the second wave.

Harris is the most likely pick; I think Klobuchar is fading a bit due to Whitmer's recent prominence. There are also a couple Hispanic women (one Senator, one governor) who are getting attention:

I wasn’t responding to Biden’s promise. I was responding to the post. And the horror expressed at selecting a woman who has the nerve to be over 50.

I mean it’s one thing to have doddering old white guys with well documented and serious health problems but we certainly must not consider an older woman!

When i saw the thread title, my first answer was "it'll surely be Pence again; why change a winning team?"

I said Warren, not Women.

I can't really think of a male that would be a viable option that provides geographic and demographic benefits. So we have Harris, Klobuchar, and Abrams. Abrams is kind of cliche at this point (because her popularity has been high since she had the great run for Senator and a decent afterwards), but with Purdue and that appointed Senator having issues with making money off of an epidemic, there definitely a stronger reason to go with the former Georgia Representative.

I need someone on the ticket that knows what a WIFI Password is.

No, you didn't. You said nothing about age. You were specifically hung up about the rejection of a woman as a candidate ("Yeah, anybody but a woman."), which is absurd, given that every "short" list contains nothing but women.

I literally have binders full of women. As far as Methuselah, Harris was my first choice, then Klobuchar for the nomination. So now I’m trying figure out how to balance the ticket to win.

So a woman is acceptable only if you can't think of a suitable man.

Got it.

Somehow, I think that a man will be found that meets the needs.

Yes, that exactly what I said.

Very doubtful.

Well, I haven't seen you toss your hat into the ring. Can you deliver Georgia?
