My Answer to - No Atheists in Fox Holes

Fundies don't care. I asked one about that the other day, and while they don't follow all the rules in the bible, they said "God says not to kill people, life is sacred", I said "well, you'll live on in heaven, so kill yourself, or I'll kill you", and they said "I don't want to die", I said "you don't want to go to heaven with God?", they said "I have work to do here".

Yep if scientists tomorrow invent a pill that would double or triple one's lifetime, billions would be spending their last dime to buy it.

I have yet to hear of anyone throwing a party because their Doc told them they have but a few months to live - funny they always take it as bad news, even though they "can't wait to get to heaven!"

And how about mass murderers? Imagine they have freed so many from the clutches of life! They have sent so many to Heaven where they get to enjoy the good life! So mass murderers must be going straight to heaven because they have done so much good?

We already went over this. They try to sincerely respect the time that their chosen god decides to take them, since death is supposed to come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.

They mock Atheists - No Atheists in fox holes - is that true? But if they have a right in mocking Atheists, why can't we have some fun?

All i see are people scared of death - Theists, Atheists - we all fear death & religions exploit that fear by promising magic lands where the living is easy but first one has to join their religion and pray to their God. Simple exploitation that has worked wonderfully and continues to do so. And that was the first image, which is in total contrast to the 2nd

They don't mock atheists, as they actually mock themselves, and duly flaunt their own ignorance by not understanding the word atheist. Even more so when simply believing in their evil god is not nearly enough; one has to honestly love the sadistic fiend, which mocks Christians' obvious desperation and sorry lack of brains, thinking their god is also some kind of fool as they clearly are.
But if they have a right in mocking Atheists, why can't we have some fun?
I have lots of gallows humor related to Christians, especially when their own Bible easily sloshes in plenty itself.

I can relate to the fool part - God sets people apart based simply on one's religion? That is what i was told - since I am Hindu i am going to hell. God is that simple-minded? We know who is - but this is not some uneducated country bumpkin living in the middle ages saying this to me - this was a highly educated, middle-aged person who i mistakenly thought was a friend.

That was frightening - if even such people can be that brainwashed - one can see why there are so many mass killings in the past - when times are good, they only use threatening words - if ever climate change becomes a reality i see these people killing as lot of us

"No atheists in foxholes" is an acknowledgement of the phobic, superstitious nature of faith. "Just wait til you're really really scared and terrified, my friend. THEN you'll reach out for help!" Feh, meh, blahhhhh.

"I'm afraid. You will be too one day! You better get god."

Okay, fine. Thanks for sharing. Now leave me alone.

And you might be right about that whole 'being afraid one day' thing, but I'll deal with it in my own mature, adult way.

But that's how they have always operated - with incredible silence from everyone - they target the poor and uneducated in India - "Don't you want to go to Heaven? Jesus can get you there, but first you must accept him as your savior. Otherwise he can't help you. Do you want to end up in hell?"

That pitch works and what disgusts me is that so many keep their silence - never saying this is so wrong - that a God would force religion on people, that he would basically abuse people because of religion - that's what Hitler did - the Jew was a criminal and deserved gas chambers just because he was a Jew - everyone calls Hitler evil, but religions use the same tactic yet no one speaks up

It is about how utterly merciless that god is, not its lack of intelligence.

We know who is - but this is not some uneducated country bumpkin living in the middle ages saying this to me - this was a highly educated, middle-aged person who i mistakenly thought was a friend.
This is partly why I keep bringing up wisdom, because smart people still make a lot of stupid mistakes, but the wise won't or hardly will.

That was frightening - if even such people can be that brainwashed - one can see why there are so many mass killings in the past - when times are good, they only use threatening words - if ever climate change becomes a reality i see these people killing as lot of us
Right, they are already cowards while things are relatively peaceful in comparison.

Despots throughout history have greatly learn from religion.

I don't see using medicine to foil god's plan for them is respectful in any way, shape, or form.

Where are the religionists praising the Vegas shooter for freeing so many souls to heaven... wasn't that god's plan? Or was the Vegas shooter more powerful than god, and his plan so fragile?

As I said in the other thread on this topic, I really don't see why there would be any Christians in foxholes. If they believe that God determines when they'll die and whether or not the bullets will hit them, isn't ducking behind cover an act of faithlessness? Why not just calmly stroll across the battlefield? If it's their time to die, hiding won't help anything and if it's not, the bullets will miss them even if they're out in the open.

It is Christians' contradicting Bible telling that their god wants to be tested, then it also should not be tested.

Because that is already shown in the Bible about medicines and other properties of healing made readily available, as even food and water. Of course it is a delicate, yet ultimately silly game.

The so-called honest ones realize this, but it is obviously hardly very popular to admit, like the Westboro Baptist Church members not only easily acknowledge, but hit so many others over the head with.

How is that testing God as opposed to accepting the will of God? Isn't ducking in a fox hole praying that God helps you survive also testing God?

Hence why it is a contradicting message. We are expected to call out to a supposed god for help, but also contain enough faith to move a mountain. Stupid Jesus praying in the garden for the poisoned cup to pass him by even though the whole point of him coming here was to so-called die for our sins.

Funny, you'd think only atheists would be in the foxhole because theists could just use the power of prayer for protection from bullets and shells.

Despots throughout history have greatly learn from religion.

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful."
