It is amazing to me to see that today we live in Democracies and yet these people follow a commie or dictatorial religions. A guy i thought was my friend coolly informs me that actions don't matter and since i am not christian I am going to hell and to add insult to injury he sweetly tells me he is going to pray for me. To me that is like if i don't vote for the strong man, someone will come break my legs! And it's my fault since i did not vote for this guy

How is the afterlife depicted by religions like christianity and islam any different from life in say North Korea? - the few who kowtow to the strong man get to live the good life whereas the vast majority get to suffer. The few who belong to these religions get Heaven, the vast majority, the rest of humanity get to suffer endless pain?

These religions say my way or the highway - you better convert or else! In the 21st century? How are these views still in currency? These are not uneducated goat-herders, these are intelligent, educated people & yet over 2,000 years now and i have yet to run across one letter, one article or one editorial condemning such hateful ideas - not even from Unbelievers!

Have these religions brainwashed us so much?

Millions did not believe in Obama and did not vote for him & nothing happened to them - thank God we live in a democracy

So, the rules are different "up there"? Which way am i going? Here on earth, I have the freedom to believe in whatever i want or disbelieve if i choose to but "up there" i will be condemned if i don't hold the "right" belief?

How long will we be stuck with these commie religions and their primitive and backward ideas?

Another 813 years. After that we move onto libertarian religions, though, so it's not really an improvement.

Well according to Hitchens, in North Korea at least you can fucking die to get out of it. The afterlife dictatorship is forever.

How are these religions communist?

Start with reading Acts 4 & 2. And Christ repeatedly tells us to sell all we have and give to the poor. The Bible preaches communism. Christians who don't practice communism aren't doing Christianity right.

It is not only in the bible, look at all the early christian communities including those in western Europe. Even now Monasteries still hold all possessions in common. The Catholics still count* quite a few socialists and communists supported by liberation theology. This is not a new movement and existed long before Marx.

This is also why the Conservative Bible Project is getting nowhere. Strip all the hippy/lefty stuff from the gospel and you are left(heh) with barely enough for a small leaflet.

Actually, if you replace them in the context of the time, and especially if you ignore Pauline's interpretation geared to legitimate power and make christianity palatable or useful to said power, those "commie" elements are quite progressive.
Of course, they still come across as brutal and vindicative (e.g. god killing a couple because the husband hid some things not to share them), human life wasn't worth much then, and collectivist, individual rights weren't a widely supported concept then, but for the time, the focus on helping the weakest without a purity test / caste test or things like that was quite revolutionnary.

Now, the problem is some people want the book to be The TruthTM without context-dependant interpretation, plus the whole "believe in me and love me or be sent to hell" racket, of course.
