Cambridge Histories

Has anyone read any of the Cambridge histories?

I got my hands on copies of the African set a few months ago and was impressed by the detail. More recently picked up the volumes on Russia, China, and Japan. Currently going through the volume on Early Russia and quite enjoying it.

They're all as dense as can be and packed with information, just how I like my history books.

I went to the university library in my town a couple days ago and got myself a hard copy of The Cambridge History of Ancient China.

Just incredible, incredible stuff. Seems like the writers of these histories were attempting to write authoritative works on their subjects (at time of publication). Just great, great stuff.
