    Do minds exist?

Do you know what we call a mind than can evolve? A brain

    Do minds exist?

No, I'm saying that light carries information about the surface of the object. You know when you watch tv and you see an image. Well the signal that gets sent to your tv isn't an image. It's just information about an image. I know that must come as quite a surprise, but it's true. You can send...

    Do minds exist?

Since I'm not saying the light is blue, you are really off-track. But even if did, what you are saying still doesn't make sense. The only light that I know of that could hit our brains while they are encased in our skulls are X-rays and we cannot see them. Well I agree with you that the mind...

    Do minds exist?

I never said that light hits the brain. I did say that it excites the perceptual system and I did say that we detect information in our environment. None of that has anything at all to with "light hitting the brain". The information about the kind of surface an object has is present in the...

    Do minds exist?

Re-reading my post I can see I didn't quite explain things as well as I would like, so I'll try again. Light reflecting off the surface of an object gives us information about that object. If that light has a wavelength of about 460nm it tells us that it is the kind of surface that absorbs other...

    Do minds exist?

Which parts are unclear or incomprehensible? If you let me know, I might be able to remedy them.

    Do minds exist?

For me it is not a case of whether our thoughts, beliefs, memories and desires are more advanced than those of bees, but whether we or they have those mental properties/content at all. I have no issue with saying bees can think and remember and desire. (I'm skeptical about them believing, but I...

    Do minds exist?

I suppose mind is one of the following... a non-physical substance with the properties of thought, memory, belief, and desire. the entirety of a person's mental contents at any given time, i.e. all their thoughts, beliefs, memories and desires.

    Do minds exist?

I would say that two bees flying over the same field of cornflowers will see something somewhat different because they do not have the same flight paths or exactly the same perceptual systems (e.g. one might be colour blind). If that is subjectivity, and I'm not sure that it is, but if it is...

    Do minds exist?

I disagree. An object's blueness is in it reflecting light that is around 460 or so nm. Or to be more precise, it is in the light reflected off the surface of the object. Our ability to pick up this stimulus information is matter of us having perceptual systems that have evolved to be excited by...

    Do minds exist?

Well the I in "I think" is certainly a grammatical subject. But I don't think that is what you meant. So what exactly do you mean? Are you saying that your mind constructs you or that you are your mind? In what way does it defy anatomical truths?

    Do minds exist?

Sorry for the long absence from this thread that I started. I've been extremely busy. I read through all the posts in this thread and there was some I want to reply to. I would say that you do, but you are a who and not a what. I guess they arrive from thinking or not thinking about certain...

    Do minds exist?

I had to look up k-hole. Now I know a little about it, I am still confused. Would you be willing to explain what you mean by "Nothing changes in a k-hole".

From what Jesus said in the bible, would you say it was evidence he was good?

Jesus was a god and all good gods know when to lie, cheat and steal. Which means he was good.

    Do minds exist?

I'm skeptical about minds. As I see it... We think, feel, and remember, but we do not have thoughts, feelings, or memories. We experience things, but do not have qualia. We perceive, but not have perceptions. There are no minds. There is no mental content. Can you change my "mind" about minds?
