Who is this "we"?
Poor farming practices deteriated the soil. The drought was the result of a many years long lack of rain. The drought can be blamed on a lot of things like the multi-decadal Atlantic oscillation, El Nino, etc. etc. but not plows.
True that Germany and Japan were limited on building an offensive military, only defensive forces, but not the rest of Europe. Germany recently amended their constitution and Japan amended their constitution a while back to allow them to have offensive capability over concerns of Chinese...
The Crimean Peninsula (a major oil production area) was part of the Ukraine until Russia took it from Ukraine in 2014. Ukraine was a major exporter of oil and gas until 2014. That is why I said Europe's inaction in 2014 is why they are buying oil and gas from Russia instead of Ukraine. In 2014...
European countries do have stockpiles of war supplies though most likely not as large as American stockpiles. Also they could certainly be buying weapons from weapons manufacturers around the world to be sent to Ukraine.
Their reliance on Russian gas and oil is a result of European inaction in...
The EU is fully "up to the task" if they are willing. But then why should they be willing to defend themselves as long as there are war hawks in the US to do it for them?
I agree that Russia will continue to act the bully unless they are stopped. We just disagree on who should care enough act. How is it that you think that the EU shouldn't be concerned enough to act but that the US should?
That question assumes that the U.S. is and should be the world's police force. The Ukraine problem is a threat to the Ukraine and should be a concern for the E.U. not so much a concern for the U.S. The EU has five times the population of Russia and many, many times the GDP of Russia. If they saw...

The weapons removed from stockpiles are restocked with new weapons which are purchased from the manufacturers. The military is not going to deplete their stock of weapons that they had to convince Congress were absolutely necessary to protect the nation.
The weapons manufacturers and those...
It is an incredibly good deal for the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell speech in 1961. The manufacturers of those sophisticated weapons systems are receiving a windfall from the sales and the politicians pushing for the use of those systems are...

I looked at that post for a while and felt stupid not seeing the humor then opened the original twitter. 😁
Your post crops the flying alligator out that can be seen on the original twitter post.
You really don't know anything about our government and its constitutional authority. The U.S. is not a democracy; it is a Constitutional republic. Even if 95% of the population wanted the government to do something, if that power was not granted to it in the Constitution then the Constitution...
Such people don't understand the purpose and limited authority given to the U.S government when it was formed by the people. Such people think the U.S. should be the world's police force exerting its power around the world to force other nations to live by they think other nations should be...
Playing with the currency seems to be a world wide game. The Swiss, with their Swiss franc, was the final nation to abandoned hard currency. In 2000 Switzerland switched from gold backed currency to fiat currency. Apparently even the Swiss couldn't resist the power fiat currency gives a government.
Economics of scale? If a third of the population of the U.S. really, really wanted to help the Ukraine and donated a couple thousand dollars each to the Ukrainian war effort then that would be several hundred billion dollars. If a third of the population volunteered to fight then they could...
I disagree. Those who really want to help, do. They can volunteer to fight with the Ukrainians as many have or they can contribute financially as many have. Those who want the government to intervene don't want to be bothered by doing something personally but want others to take care of it...
I would assume that those who really want to do something have already caught a flight to the area and joined in the fray. Several have but apparently you haven't yet. If you really think you should support the Ukraine but don't want to get your hands dirty, then you could at least financially...
