Religion's just the excuse for violence, not the cause. Christians used theirs to defend american slavery. Terrorists desperate for power & recognition used theirs to rationalize 9/11: "sacrificing" their own lives to commit mass...
I do know a few who are that stupid, but besides the point lol.
I'm totally not against feeding the hungry. I actually visit homeless shelters myself to give out clothes and food. I just believe it's important for people to understand that the system doesn't love the people it provides for.
There are ALWAYS strings attached, c'mon we all know that. Look at how it's "helped" the mentally disabled.
And what kind of person gets upset because their free food curing their hunger pains didn't include shrimp?? -- "I can't have it because you won't buy it for me" - that's their childlike...
No, I don't believe the ancestors of the wrongdoers owe the ancestors of the wronged for what was done to them. Because they're all dead now. People can only be accountable for their own actions given what they now know at the time.
I do NOT mean we should have an attitude like "eff the natives...
I'm against the death penalty for several reasons. The most important reason is because I believe people are valuable in the sense of dignity above all else. The death penalty measures human value by social usefulness, not by dignity.
Look at what differentiates humans from animals: choice. Unlike animals, whose behavior is embedded solely on instinct, not choice, we have both. We must make choices every day, yet to a certain point we're still influenced by our instincts - how much we can guess.
