Suspect in Texas shooting wore ‘Property of Allah’ clothing and Iranian flag emblem, AP source says

AP said:
The gunman who killed two people at a bar in Texas early Sunday in a mass shooting that left 14 others wounded was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Property of Allah,” and another shirt with an Iranian flag design, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press.
The shooter has been identified as 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, the law enforcement official and another person familiar with the matter said. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation.

Diagne was originally from Senegal, according to multiple people briefed on the investigation. One of the people told the AP that Diagne came to the U.S. in 2006 and was a naturalized U.S. citizen.
Officers in Austin shot and killed the gunman, who used both a pistol and a rifle to carry out the attack, police said. The FBI said the shooting was being investigated as a potential act of terrorism.

The article called the killings terrorism. Somewhere I have a pin that says: "War is terrorism too". Nobody should be shot and killed but war kills far more innocent people along with those in the service compared to any mass killing. And, of course, Captain Bonespurs doesn't mind people being killed as long as he's not one of them.

This administration labels every act of violence or peaceful protest by those it disapproves as “terrorism”. So, I’ll wait for the investigative results.

Not just any random guy. A random dark skinned guy, all the better if he ( or she) was foreign born and might be Muslim.

When any one poster brings articles about a particular person alleged to have perpetrated violence in the US and there is a consistent common denominator of dark skin, especially with being born outset the US and/or being Muslim/muslim-friendly and when the same poster consistently defends and even excuses white perpetrators, it starts to look like the issue for the poster is the dark skin/ethnicity/religious leanings and not so much the crime(s). You are not the only person, btw, who seems to have this pattern.

I could very easily flood this board with posts about rapists, men who commit domestic violence or frankly, middle aged and older men caught in stings by officers pretending to be 15 year old girls on line. I’ve thought about it, frankly. But I’m not certain what that would do except depress the hell out of me.
 
Senegal is predominantly Sunni Muslim. Iran is predominantly Shia Muslim.

The odds are this shooter is Sunni Muslim. But he’s been in the US for 20 years. And he was a naturalized citizen.

I find such events gut wrenchin, despite the shooter's identity, despite their victims identity.

I'm expecting this to be an isolated mass shooting in the US related to the attack on Iran.

I have never started a thread about mass shootings by white people or participated to my knowledge in any such threads if they exist. Are you daft?

But of course, such shootings by such white people exist. And?

I think what people would like to know is why you single out dark-skinned people in these matters, particularly if they are Muslims or say they are.

Actually, we would not like to know that.

We already do.
 
According to the Rockefeller Institute of Government, the majority of mass shooters are white and the overwhelming majority are male, with an average age of 34.5.

I think his point is forum rules regarding the posting of articles don't apply to him. Everyone else's point is pretty much unchanged with regards to Derec for over a decade.

IIDB (Internet News Service) — A rando frantically scours the internet to find examples of Brown people, preferably Muslims, doing bad stuff, informed sources confirmed late Sunday.

The rando, Derec, recently started a thread about a man allegedly wearing a “Property of Allah” shirt shooting up a bar and killing 2 and wounding 14.

Authorities said the gunman, Ndiaga Diagne, apparently had a history of mental illness, but that cuts no ice with Derec, who is eager to start threads indicting Muslims and brown people for being Muslim and brown.

Experts noted that the vast majority of mass shootings are committed by white males who have no connection with Islam and often shoot up schools.

“When such tragedies instigated by white men with no connection to Islam happen, we must offer thoughts and prayers to the victims and their survivors,” said E. Mota Kahn, an internet enshittification analyst with the RAND corporation. “When mass killings by brown Muslims occur, we must condemn 2 billion people worldwide.”
 
We could change the headline to
"Pudgy middle aged US citizen with a gun shoots up Texan bar" and it would be more accurate.
But nobody would care much.

We need to stop the identity crap. People of all stripes do terrible things, and do good things. Judge the individual, not the group.
