Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) took a swipe at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Thursday, likening her to the “kinds of people that I threw out of bars” after the Georgia Republican aggressively confronted her outside the House chamber the day before.

"I used to work as a bartender. These are the kinds of people that I threw out of bars all the time,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters on Capitol Hill.

“For me, this isn't even about how I feel. It's that I refuse to allow young women, people of color, people who are standing up for what they believe, to see this kind of intimidation attempts by a person who supports white supremacists in our nation’s Capitol,” she continued.

She said that about Rep. Ted Yoho last year, that he was the sort of person that she'd throw out of a bar.

MTG responded

“So she throws out paying customers. Is that how she feels? She throws out paying customers, is what she's saying?” Greene said in response to a reporter who relayed how Ocasio-Cortez compared her to an aggressive bar patron.

“You know, it would be nice if they would treat us civilly. But ever since Jan. 6, they can't even treat us with respect. And we were just as much as victims of the riot here, too. We didn't cause it," Greene continued. "All these lies that they say on and on and on. You know, they need to be civil. None of them are civil to me.

“I was telling her, you need to debate me, you need to defend your policy," she added. "There is nothing wrong with that."

Rep. Jimmy Gomez wore a "Expel MTG" mask as he tried to get more support for a resolution expelling MTG from the House. “She’s still a threat. She assaulted one of my colleagues, a friend of mine. And I think it’s time for us to take a vote on the resolution,” he said.

She was elected in 2020, and she was a right-wing activist back in 2019.

"Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, I'm an American citizen. I pay your salary through the taxes that you collect for me through the IRS because I'm a taxpaying citizen of the United States," Greene says, noting elsewhere in the video that members of Congress are "employees" who "work for us."

"So you need to stop being a baby and stop locking your door and come out and face the American citizens that you serve," she says. "If you want to be a big girl, you need to get rid of your diaper and come out and be able to talk to the American citizens. Instead of having to use a flap, a little flap. Sad."

In an email to CNN after publication, Greene said, "Members of Congress and all government employees are employed by the taxpayers of this country. Holding the government accountable to the people is what I've always believed in."

She calls herself the victim of repeated attacks by Democrats, like Marie Newman once bumping into her.

"Since I have been a member of Congress I have been kicked off of my committees by the Democrats when there were no ethics violations against me—not one—I did nothing wrong," Greene said.

She recounted an incident in which Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) walked by Greene screaming at her "to put on a mask." Greene spoke about another incident where the delegate from the US territory of Guam marched the National Guard to her Congressional office.

"I had over 30 National Guard marched on my office by the delegate of Guam. Thank God I wasn't in there," Greene said. Greene said that Rep. Marie Newman "shoulder-checked" her on Thursday inside the Capitol Building and refused to acknowledge her. Rep. Eric Swalwell, she said, took issue with one of her staffers, "getting in his face, cursing at him," for pointing out that he doesn't have to wear a mask anymore per guidance from the president and the CDC.

"The Democrats are the party of aggression and violence," she said, pointing out Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib's support for Hamas terrorists over US ally Israel. "They're supporting the terrorists," she said, as well as supporting Antifa militants and BLM rioters.

"And then I get harassed by the press every single day," Greene said, "about January 6, and I've said the entire time, literally, starting on that day, during the riot, how much I'm upset by it, how much I'm against, and how appalled I am by it. I was a victim of it as well.

On Friday, tensions surrounding Greene continued to run high when her spokesman, Nick Dyer, had a heated confrontation with Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) over the congressman wearing a mask indoors. Dyer says he used a “jovial tone” when he told Swalwell, “Biden said you can take off your mask.” The congressman then confronted Dyer and used an expletive, telling the aide not to tell him what to do.

The two incidents with Ocasio-Cortez are also reminiscent of another video of Greene that showed her harassing a teenager outside the Capitol. David Hogg, who became a national gun control advocate after a mass shooting at his high school in Parkland, Fla., was on Capitol Hill to meet with lawmakers.

Then MTG at AOC's office in early 2019.

The group eventually gives up, claiming security had warned the office ahead of time that they were coming. Before the video shuts off, Greene says they’re going to visit two other congresswomen, freshmen Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), the first Muslim women elected to the House and two members of what is known as the “Squad” with Ocasio-Cortez.

“Hey, look, as a woman I do not want to have to wear a burqa one day,” Greene says. “I want to ask them what they are thinking and why they’re serving in our American government. They really should go back to the Middle East.”

Neither of the two women are from the Middle East. Omar was born in Somalia, Africa. Tlaib was born in Detroit.

Greene also says in the video that she’s bringing a Bible and is planning to ask them to retake their oath of office because they swore in on the Koran.

Jan. 6. Pro-Trump rioters storm the Capitol. One of the people who joined Greene on Capitol Hill in February 2019 was among the crowd that day.

Ocasio-Cortez later describes hiding in her office in fear of the mob. At a news conference the following month, Greene disparaged Ocasio-Cortez’s reaction.

“I was in the chamber, unlike AOC — Representative Ocasio-Cortez — that faked her outrage with another hoax,” Greene said, “just another hoax that gets shared everywhere.”

Investigation: Marjorie Taylor Greene filed homestead exemptions on 2 homes, violating state law – WSB-TV Channel 2 - Atlanta

A homestead exemption is a big tax break any Georgia homeowner is entitled to for their primary residence. It is against the law to file for more than one.

But Channel 2 investigative reporter Justin Gray pulled records showing that the Greenes are getting the tax break on two different homes in two different counties.

In a statement, Greene’s office told Gray to mind his own business and called it a “pathetic smear” when he asked them about the homestead exemptions.

On the other hand, how many "sane" people, perhaps even friends or relatives or yours, believe in astrology? Or members of Congress? That the position of planets and stars in the universe have some bearing on our personalities, our past and our future? The possibility of astrology being valid goes against all we know about the laws of science. The probability that it is true is exactly 0.00000. Same with a myriad of absurd religious beliefs held by many in the general public and, sadly, in high positions of the US Government.

But of course, my response here will be proof to those here that I agree with MTG (and QAnon too I suspect), as reading comprehension failures and deliberate obtuseness are worn as a badge of honor around here.

My quick thoughts on this question:

You could start a fire with your magnifying glass because you could concentrate the sunlight. This depends on the f-number of the lens; that is, the ratio of the focal length to the collecting area. The smaller the number the more concentration. Your magnifying glass was probably in the area of F/3 or lower — just a guess. To achieve a similar concentration from a few hundred miles up the collecting area would have to be at least dozens of miles in diameter.

I don’t know the cutoff f-number that can start a fire but I think we would notice a satellite that was many miles large in orbit around the Earth.
