Manafort Pleads Guilty (was Paul Manafort ready to flip)

The fact that he’s cooperating is significant, especially in light of pleading guilty for conspiracy against the US. If he had plead guilty and did not agree to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation, then that would be a strong sign that he is expecting a pardon and fuck all y’all. But cooperating after pleading guilty to conspiracy against the US means there were other people involved in that conspiracy.

My concern is still that the Trump Tower meeting is a false flag/red herring. The collusion with Russia and Trump started long before any such meeting. In regard to the 2016 election, that most likely began at the Miss Universe pageant in 2013. In regard to Trump being a Russian asset, that began as far back as the eighties (if not earlier).

The meeting has Stone’s fingerprints all over it and is designed for either Kushner or Trump, Jr to fall on their swords, knowing either would be pardoned. My guess is it will be Jr., because it will be far easier for Trump to justify pardoning his own son with the “excuse” being the exuberance of a son for his father, or some such equal bullshit.

That aside, these details from POLITICO are strange:

The deal dismisses deadlocked charges against Manafort from an earlier bank- and tax-fraud trial in Virginia, but only after "successful cooperation” with Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference and whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Moscow on its efforts. Later, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson said Manafort is agreeing to "cooperate fully and truthfully" with the investigation.

However, a source close to the defense told POLITICO, "the cooperation agreement does not involve the Trump campaign. ... There was no collusion with Russia."

An odd inclusion.

And then there is this (emphasis mine):

”Mr. Manafort has accepted responsibility,” Manafort lawyer Kevin Downing told reporters after the hearing. “He wanted to make sure his family was able to remain safe and live a good life. He’s accepted responsibility and this is for conduct that leads back many years, and everybody should remember that.”

A none-too-coded reference to Manafort’s family being a target of Russian agents perhaps? He certainly would have nothing to fear from any Americans, regardless of his crimes, so wtf is that supposed to mean, if not a message to Russia to back the fuck off, Manafort is taking the fall and will do as instructed?

Oh, no. Trumpanzees are making death threats for merely comparing the shitgibbon to another president.
If they thought he was testifying against The Cho see n One, AND thought he knew something actually damaging, (though they would never admit it was possible), they'd be flying planes into his home.

The lawyer is virtue signalling that all crimes were from before Trump's ascension, and Manafort's association.

"We were bad, but not disloyal! Conspiracy, and all that, but nothing to do with Trump! Please don't burn our house down."

Trump's Twitter feed still hijacked by a White House staffer retweeting how prepared FEMA et al are in the Carolinas. No word from Trump on Manafort.

Possibly, but, again, if that were the case—i.e., if he truly feared death threats from deplorables—then he simply would have refused cooperation.

For reference, here is the full Manafort plea agreement

The provisions on page 6 are interesting, particularly in regard to agreeing to participate in any “undercover activities.” Which means, he must have already so participated, since making this public would seem to preclude him being able to effectively operate “undercover.”

All this Team Trump praise of Manafort is now extremely awkward

Schadenfreude in spades!!

Unfortunately for the White House, there is a long history of Trump campaign officials and surrogates praising Manafort publicly and reportedly advocating for him behind the scenes.

Donald Trump
After Manafort’s conviction on tax and bank fraud charges last month, the president praised the “brave man” for refusing “to get a ‘deal.'”

I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. “Justice” took a 12 year old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to “break” - make up stories in order to get a “deal.” Such respect for a brave man!

When Manafort resigned as campaign chairman in August 2016, Trump said he was “very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process.”

Trump also said “Paul Manafort has done an amazing job” during an event after the Republican National Convention in July 2016.

Eric Trump
Following Manafort’s departure as his father’s campaign chairman, Eric Trump said “Paul is a great guy” and “Paul was amazing” in an August 2016 appearance on Fox News.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner
The New York Times reported in 2017 that Trump’s oldest daughter and her husband were pivotal in the decision to hire Manafort as campaign manager.
Mr. Barrack passed Mr. Manafort’s pitch to Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, who were Mr. Trump’s closest advisers, as they are now.
Ms. Trump printed it out for her father — who hates reading documents online — along with Mr. Barrack’s recommendation that Mr. Manafort be hired to manage the Trump operation at the Republican convention in Cleveland. Mr. Manafort was brought onto the campaign by the end of March.
According to the Mercury News, “Ivanka and Jared seemed to think that Manafort, a long-time political consultant and lobbyist, would bring professionalism” to Trump’s campaign.

Newt Gingrich
The former Republican House Speaker and staunch Trump supporter praised Manafort for his role in helping Trump secure the Republican nomination during an interview on Fox News in August 2016. “Nobody should underestimate how much Paul Manafort did to really help get this campaign to where it is right now,” Gingrich said at the time.

Corey Lewandowski
Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski claimed Manafort had “been in operational control of the campaign since April 7” when he was removed from the role in June 2016. However, Lewandowski had high praise for his replacement, noting, “Paul helped us grow the campaign and we need to continue to grow to be successful. So everything that Paul did for the campaign is one less thing I had to do.”

Sean Hannity
The Fox News host and reliable Trump defender admitted he “stayed in touch” with Manafort after his dismissal as campaign chairman during an interview on the night of Trump’s inauguration. “You never lost that confidence, and I remember talking to you about a week before the election. You were 100 percent confident,” Hannity told Manafort about Trump’s 2016 win.

The Deps have short memories. If Paul (a very good person) sits in the slammer until after the elections, the deplorables will be so incensed about other things, he can get his pardon and live happily ever after.
Unless he has disappointed the Deripaska Gang.

And monkeys might fly out of his butt. This conspiracy stuff is so fun! The more sillier the conjecture the more conspirasier.

Manafort reaches 'tentative' plea deal with Mueller: report

Now don't you feel silly?
My prediction? Trausti pretends like he didn't visit the thread for the next few pages until someone says something he can derail over an entirely ignores his ethical obligation to withdraw and apologize for his brazen and unfounded claims that Trump Dindu Nuffin.

You mean "past behaviour is a good indicator of future behaviour"? I think that's a bet you will win.

Pardoning won't do him any good. He still got lots of state charges hanging over his head and Bonespurs cannot pardon those.

No, no, no....Oleg has many friend. Many places. Oleg not give shit about pardon.

I think that that is accurate. However, Trump may still be planning an end run around all of this by firing Rosenstein and appointing someone to oversee Mueller who will hamstring the investigation. Mueller cannot really do anything without the approval of Rosenstein or the person that replaces him. A new Attorney General, being not recused, could simply assume control of the investigation. Whether or not Trump can survive the political fallout from such blatant obstruction of justice is another matter. A lot probably depends on how the midterm elections go.
